What's a reasonable deposit

For a dealer to hold a coach while getting one's financing?

You might have better luck letting dealer secure the financing. They usually score you I better rate and I would bet they wouldn't require a deposit. As far as a deposit on an inventory coach? I would leave $500-1000 with stipulations on getting my money back.

$1000.00.

Get the dealer to quite financing as well as checking on your own. See who offers the best deal. Financing is buying money, treat it as such.

Ask your dealer. The deposit makes the agreement to buy a contract. With the stipulation you get your money back is of no value to the dealer. Why leave any deposit with that agreement. If you don't trust the dealer, go somewhere else. Usually dealers are able to get financing at more favorable rates and terms for you. I would let them try.

Are you buying off the lot or is this a factory order? I would think that this would probably dictate differences in the deposit. I don't know what others have paid as a deposit or at what dealers, but I spoke with a dealer who stated their policy on custom orders was a 5% deposit (this was on a DSDP).

$500-1000 should be sufficient with the contingency that the deposit is contingent upon finding financing.

In my experience (3 times) especially for coaches in the high end price range, the institutions that dealers have available for those type of loans specialize and provide the best terms from rates to duration.
Your credit history /score and loan value will also dictate how much your down payment would be. Good Luck.
