It’s a large CG and there were 2 people working there when we were out there today.
In the building every bay had a coach in it. There are only a few full hookup spots available. We are in the overflow area with electric only. Not a good situation and there’s still a lot of work to be done on the new CG.

New Campground Up Date
Drove around new camp ground today. Friday they we’re pulling electrical wire and got about 40 percent done. They are installing bolts in the concrete and it looks to be for the power pedestal. Contractors also spreading dirt around the perimeter of the campground. Lots of rumors but I think 1 June would be reasonable. There is work being done every day.
Old camp newmar is full and lots of units in overflow today. Have seen numerous rv’s camp outside the new customer service building where there is power. So if you get here on the weekend you’d probably be ok to park there if you start work on Monday.

I made it to the old CN and I creeped around the outside looking in (I have a towed), looked pretty full, and a Dutchstar behind me ducked in and looks like they found the last site. I also found the overflow which has a lot of rigs in it. Someone mentioned that it was confusing on how to get into the overflow and I agree. I found the proper gate to come in on the 2nd drive by.
I have rez at the fairground. It was interesting coming up 31 just south of 6 - it was raining and then it was snowing - What The ... It's pretty cold here and raining now - I think they are forecasting 30 tonight. So probably more light snow. Supposed to be clear tomorrow and then rainy until Thursday.

RKins,
You mentioned a gate to get into the overflow parking. Is the gate for the parking that was on Delaware St? If so could you let me know where the gate is located?
I have a 3 day appointment on May 6 and I usually park on Delaware. If there are no spots in the FHU area it would nice to know how to get into the ones on Delaware.
Thanks
Dave C.

Dave, best I can tell the actual gate to get into the overflow parking is on Cheyenne, just before you get to the tour bldg. You turn in and then have to turn hard right to come around into the overflow area. The gate on Delaware is the way you get out of the overflow parking.
Here is the FHU area on this past Saturday. Full.
Just west of the orange wall you'll see some new chainlink and you'll see an opening that gets you into the overflow.
From what I saw there is slant back-in parking in overflow - pointing toward the gate on Delaware. This was Overflow on Saturday.
I'm pretty sure I'll be in overflow tomorrow since I don't need anything but electric, so I'll let you know.

What is the procedure for getting a spot at any of their campsites? I know it is first come/first served. Is there a location to check in and is there a map out there? I have a service appointment set up for September. I am assuming that I would need to come in with full water and empty black/gray tanks.

Hi Kjlunda,
There is no "rule" on arrival and departure. Courtesy dictates arrive the day before and leave the day after. Problem come about when owners arrive too early and stay too late. For me, they are moochers. This has caused tremendous discomfort for owners with appointments. There are plenty of CGs in the area and things to do if one arrives in the area ahead of schedule or wishes to stay after their appointment is closed.
You have a Wednesday appointment start day. The beginning of the week is the most difficult to find a spot. Usually the weekend is your best bet to find a spot.

I was told to arrive the day before my appt, find an open spot in either the FHU or overflow parking and put the Window Tag in the window. A tech will knock on your door between 6 and 830A. No need to check in with anyone she said, even though the welcome letter says to - I think the problem is that where the letter tells you to check in is really at the new Service Center. This will all work out once the new camp ground opens up. Then you will get a code to get into the the CG and not be able to arrive earlier than the day before and stay the night of the last day - once you drive out you can't get back in.
I arrived in town 4 days early to make sure I covered anything that went wrong in my travels. I booked at the Elkhart Fairgrounds in Goshen - not any problem getting a site. My "day before" is tomorrow. Every service tag has the service date on it, will be interesting to see how long people have been there in service.
