Factory pickup starting 6-17

Hi. Flying into South Bend the evening of June 16th, and renting a car for the drive to Nappanee.

I have a room for that night at the Countryside Inn.

Excited doesn't begin to express... I placed my order on 12-20-2018 so it's been a long 6 months

Thanks! When I'm there for my pickup week, should I presume that having a rental car is basically a necessity -- even just for going to the supermarket, lunch, dinner, Wally-World, etc.?

I get a cheap corp rate so it's not a big deal..

Yes you will.

Wally World is 20 miles away in Goshen, so a car would be good. Might be able to flag down a buggy though!

..and the only bummer is there is no place closer than South Bend airport to return it - so I'll have to take a Lyft back to Nappanee..

You can walk to the supermarket - Rite Choice Food is the only supermarket in town and it is just north of the new Newmar Service center. (Bring your own shopping bags though) But you'll need a car for everything else. All the big stores are in Goshen, as someone mentioned, about 15-20 miles NE of Nappanee. Elkhart is about 20 miles due N of Nappanee - it has a lot of stores too.

As for returning the car, make South Bend your first trip in the new coach - have the missus follow you in the car to turn it in. I was told it is like 45 mins away. I tried to catch a flight out of there to home but couldn't work it out.

Oh and Congrats on your new ride/home.

Hi - The important thing is that DQ is a very short walk from the service center campground. It's all about priorities! :>)

There are two grocery stores in Nappanee. Rite choice foods and Martin's supermarket. Martins has a better selection, but make sure you visit Rite choice. We are driving our toad to Nappanee so we are all set. Have fun.

Curious as to what route you take and how many overnights without a motorhome?

We are hauling a trailer with all our gear so I will be doing 65 or so. Up through Atlanta, Chattanooga, Indy and up too nappaneee. We will take 4 days. No rush and a couple of stops to visit friends along the way.

Hmmm, I missed Martins. I'll check it out in a couple weeks. Thanks for pointing that out.

I just received a toll charge in the mail for crossing the bridge at the border of KY and IN on 65. I called them to ask where I was when I went through a toll and once she said the bridge I remembered thinking while I was driving "they said toll, where is the toll booth"? Sorry, small town guy.
She said there was a couple other ways to get across without a toll but for $7 - what the heck.
