Can you still get the winter rates in March?! Wish I'd known that. I thought they were just for Jan-Feb. We were there in mid January and the temps didn't get above freezing the whole time - in fact, it wasn't above 5 degrees most of the time! And there were tons of snow and ice on the ground. Good planning on your part, poor on my part.

The winter rates end March 31st according to Phil Stilley.

I just hope they are not having snow and an arctic clipper coming through while we are there.

We were there in April of 2008 and it snowed as we arrived. One suggestion, if it really starts snowing more than a dusting....pull in the slides. We did not and when it came time to do so, bad news. We had gotten snow blown in under the slide toppers and we didn't realize it. Does a number in the slide and it won't close all the way. The guy parked next to us was from somewhere up north. Pulled in his at the first snowflake and he was fine.

Thanks for the info Donna, did not know that.

We have tried to avoid any snow during our 3 1/2 years of fulltiming.

We have a 04/14 to 04/18 slot and were hoping the bad weather would be done by then. The only other time we were at Camp Newmar was to stop and pick up the coach dropped off by the dealer in late January and man was it cold.
Thanks, Daryl

We just left Camp Newmar last Friday. We arrived last Sunday, 3/15, to a beautiful day with highs in the 60s. Was nice Monday and Tuesday, but on Thursday morning it was 20. I still hate the 6 am rig pickups.

There was only about 8-9 rigs there each day for service. Production was down for that whole week and this week. Also many of the techs were in Perry, GA for the FMCA rally, so it was kinda dead around there. They were doing some work on new rigs. Probably finishing up ones that were about done, so they could get them to the dealers.

They will work on other brands, but know they can't deal with repairs for unique parts that are mfg specific, but should be able to do most work. I think they are taking is slow and cautions on this from a conversation I overheard.

Couple of them were concerned about Monaco, because they had so much inventory and figured that Monaco might dump them at a cheap prices and hurt Newmar sales.

I left several $$$$$'s there to help the local economy. I like the new Martin's Grocery Store.

The reason I asked the question was because a friend was there last Friday and he said the place looked like it was closed up and no new coaches in the yards.
