I could never get my WiFi Ranger to work properly, gave up.. won't buy that option ever again. NewMar should find another company to work with that actually can be set up and work upon picking the coach up from the dealership.
Just me 2 cents

Just a heads up. I purchased the FreedomGo Plan but could never get it to connect. My fault of course. Now after waiting almost an hour on the phone, Winegard tells me there is no refund for a data plan. Just one more Gotcha from this rip off company. What a burn all around, my time, my money, and my patience...All gone with these people.
They have the capabilities to log in to your system, so they know I never used 1 bit of data, but they want to keep my money anyway.

Newmar...Are you listening? You are in bed with CROOKS...

If we allow WIFI Ranger to get away with this without shouting out to Newmar, shame on us! I just wrote my service advisor...

Bill:

We have tried to reach out to you multiple times and have been rebuffed each time. As far as I can tell, your primary issue with WiFiRanger is the fact that your modem and SIM are on the roof which is something that Newmar should have disclosed to you when you placed your order.

I am sure we could assist you in getting your FreedomGo plan to work if you would like our assistance.

I urge you to not use defamatory language about a company when you have absolutely no evidence of malicious intent.

I have spoken to your techs, I have not rebuffed you at all. I'm just unhappy with the information I received. The first tech Ted tried in vain to make things work. Then I was told by Christian that my sim is NOT usable, yet you tell me that you can make it work? More misleading info from you. Oh, you mean you can make it work by changing out the sim, like I said, misleading. We all know the sim installed in my machine was rigged like a slot machine to pay out to Winegard or whoever thought out this scheme.

The installed sim that came with my coach was tied to the AT&T FreedomGo plan. I purchased a freedom go plan that I am unable to use and the company will not give me a refund.

Winegard's intent is to lock me into their extraordinarily expensive plan. Whether that is malicious or not is up to debate. I say it's sneaky at best, but stinks the more you look into it. It was not disclosed to me. I only speak the truth. If it hurts, so be it.

Why can't Winegard be content in selling equipment and not try to underhandedly get their fingers into the cell business too?

I'm done with you, I'm only taking time out to warn others that may fall into your trap.

For those who might read your response without understanding the facts, I would like to clarify:

1. Your WiFiRanger is NOT, in any way, locked to Winegard's FreedomGo plans. You have decided that exchanging SIMs from the roof-mounted modem is an undue hardship and, therefore, you are stating that this is tantamount to "locking" the device. That is your opinion. Replacing the SIM with a "general purpose AT&T SIM" or one from T-Mobile would result in a usable system.

2. Your WiFiRanger had a FreedomGo SIM installed when you received it. You attempted to activate the SIM with an AT&T reseller other than Winegard and that activation attempt has made the SIM unusable on the AT&T network. Although you cannot obtain a refund on the data plan, I'm pretty sure that replacing the SIM would resolve your problems and allow the plan to be used.

I don't understand how any of this can be viewed as being "sneaky". By your own admission you didn't realize that your Ranger's modem would be on the roof, but that fact is clearly described on WiFiRanger's website and should have been disclosed to you by Newmar when you reviewed your WiFi options. I'm sorry for any misunderstanding that might have occurred.

Just sent entire string of posts to AG Todd Rokita , Indiana along with explanation. I also copied Newmar. I know it will take some time but collectively we must speak up about the business practices that are negatively impacting consumers.

I am having troubles to connect through cellular as well. Seems to me it must be pretty slow in the Indiana AG office if they have time to help 3 guys that can’t get cellular service….

I am no expert about AT&T.

I recently took a Cell Booster and WIFI Booster off my MH. I also had a Verizon MiFi device I chased around the MH with trying to get the best signal. All of it was a PITA but it kind of worked.

I bought a Pepwave Max Transit 5G and Parsec antenna. Installed the Parsec on the roof and setup the router in the coach. All I did was take the sim card out of the MiFi and put it into the Pepwave (with an adapter) and we were off to the races. This has been a game changer for me.

I'm not pounding on Winegard, but I decided against it after doing extensive research and finding many, many unhappy campers.

Loony79, you might need to think about hitching your horse to another rail.

Well, ATT refunded my $325.00 on my credit card . Took only 2 days! No issue. Picked up a MIFI at Verizon and so far it has worked extremely well ( only about a week).
The issue with wifiRanger clearly is more than 3 people. Potentially business practices and marketing practices may not hold up. Spent a lot of money to add to purchase of motorhome and buying something that is misrepresented and does not work…….. does not sit well.

Looney, I don’t think the Winegard issue gets the point of criminal, as in AG like you mentioned, but definitely should be reported to the BBB as I will be doing.

Winegard is not BBB accredited so the best you can do is leave a review. They have a 1 star rating.

If you’re inclined to you can leave your review here

This may not fit this series of comments, but. Every time I have tried to use AT&T there are problems. Because we live in the country we have AT&T WI-FI in the house. That is all that is available in our area. About every three to five days I have to shut it down and start over.

While traveling I use my Verizon phone as a hot spot and it works ok for what I need. I do not stream movies.
