Hey thanks for the link but that is the exact link the page I screenshoted brings me to. I tried it again just to be sure and it is giving me the same error. I double checked the SIM # and I'm copying and pasting the IMEI directly from the Setup page on the wifiranger converge aspen interface so I know that one is correct.

starting to think this isn't going to work for what I need :(

Thanks for trying out one of your devices. Yes I get the correct options after entering the SIM and IMEI. It shows me the $55/month 100GB plan. It lets me select that....then brings me to another screen where it asks for my email...provide that and then it spins for a bit and kicks me back to that activation screen with the generic error

That form seems to accept a wide range of IMEIs.

A blank SIM from Walmart should be okay. Make sure the number starts with 890141.

Oops, Greg posted as I was typing. I don't know what that error is. Errors seem to be pretty common on AT&T sites in general.

Greg, I think it is supposed to recognize a hotspot IMEI and only give you choices for hotspot and tablet plans. If you entered a phone IMEI it would give you phone plans.

I added a few more words after you quoted me, not that they help much.

Unfortunately I've found AT&T one of the most difficult companies to deal with. I would do as the message says and try again later. You never know.

If you search Google for GA701 you get a lot of hits on that error. It seems like the only real advice is to clear cookies. I guess you could try that or maybe try incognito or whatever your browser's private mode is called. That might well be worth a try. I vaguely remember that clearing up an error for me once on AT&T.

yeah I'm going to try again tomorrow morning and see what happens. Maybe someone in the office tripped over the power cord of the server that resolves the IMEI numbers lol.

If that doesn't work I'm probably going to have to go back to the ATT store and try and work with them...ugh lol

Thanks again for all your help so far! I'll post back my findings.

All I can say is that I successfully registered on that site a couple of days ago using my Aspen's IMEI. I did notice that the site is erratic and I wouldn't be all that surprised if there is an underlying cookie or cache issue. If that's the case it might be worth opening an incognito tab on your browser and trying.

NOTE ADDED: I just now opened an incognito tab on Chrome and entered my Aspen's IMEI and the site immediately went to the screen where it asked me to define what type of device the IMEI was associated with. There may well have been a cookie/cache problem that we have all been unaware of.

For those who haven't yet been able to get to the screen where you can "define" the type of device you have, I've posted it here as an attachment.

**Edit : Hey docj...do you have the URL for that screenshot where you can select the device type?

Hi docj...thanks for sharing you were able to get it to work just now.

There must be either something I'm doing wrong then. I tried again today using incognito mode and its still doing the same thing for me. The strange thing is it doesn't say it can't find my IMEI...for me it seems to let me just continue.

This is the order of the URLs that it takes me through

start here:
https://www.att.com/prepaid/mobile-hotspot-tablet/

then here where I enter my SIM and IMEI #
https://www.att.com/prepaid/activations/#/activate.html

then here where I select "activate 1 device"
https://www.att.com/prepaid/activati...tion-type.html

Then here where I select 100GB/mo $55'month plan
https://www.att.com/prepaid/activati...-rateplan.html

Then here where it asks for my email
https://www.att.com/prepaid/activati...onal-info.html

after that it cycles and then kicks me back to the activation page
https://www.att.com/prepaid/activations/#/activate.html

sorry for bothering everyone I just wanted to list it all out as how I'm doing it cause maybe I'm doing something wrong on my end.

docj when is that page you screenshotted showing up for you? Right after you enter the info in the activation page? If so then I'm not sure why mine is letting me get further along only to fail.

I'm going to have to go and try the ATT store later today to see if they can help.

I appreciate everyone's help and input. Thanks again!

I had entered my IMEI, ICCID, home zip code and the CAPTCHA code and then clicked on Submit. The screenshot I posted was the very next page that opened.

The site clearly gets "upset" if you make an error entering the two sets of long numbers. Also, I think the CAPTCHA app gets messed up once you see a "we have a problem notice".

ok...For me its letting me get past that screen as if it is working. Just to be sure...I have an Aspen with Cat6 and the instructions said to log into the device and go to the "setup" tab and expand the cellular Quectel one and grab the listed IMEI from there. That is what I should be doing right?

Yup, that's the exact same device I'm using and I'm doing exactly what you
describe.

If going to an incognito tab didn't work, try a new browser. I rarely used Edge but I do in cases where I can't get Chrome to work.
