Window Replacement
Just quoted $1,800.00 to replace 2 windows by Newmar. Anyone replace windows with someone else in the midwest area? I am in Cincinnati.

Why are you replacing them? If they are fogged then you can get them repaired for about $200 each. I had mine done on a previous coach in Florida but there are other companies around the country that will do this.

On our Essex we have had the driver big window replaced 3 times and we are getting ready to do it again. We are going with RVGlass in Oregon. They are now putting in single thick safety glass which has a life time warranty. After 3 windows replacement the last one costing 1500$ they will do it for 325$. This is big piece of glass and they said they are the only ones do it right now.

John, I would love to pay $200 but I have dual pane windows and my understanding is that once the seal is gone there is no fix.
Tom, I like replacing with a thick piece of tempered glass, they are far from me, may call them if they have affiliates in the midwest.

Suncoast Design in Hudson, FL just west of Tampa repair these dual pane Windows. They take the window apart and replace the spacer/seal with a more robust design. We had our big driver's side window repaired by them in 2010 and it still looks great.

I guess you haven't been RV'ing long. This is a common issue and there are several companies doing this repair. Steve mentioned the one in Florida that did all 8 windows on my previous coach. There are usually 20 coaches lined up in Hudson having their windows repaired.

Coincidentally I am in a RV site at SunCoast Designers, Inc in Florida having my 3 panel double pane insulated glass front passenger side window repaired.
RV SERVICES | RV Window Repair Specialists in Hudson, FL
For $225 each they remove the entire window, (either 2 or 3 panel of any size or shape) ...dissemble it... separate and clean the glass...replace and reseal the spacers... then reassemble, reinstall and caulk the window.

Mel, from my slowly declining memory I thought they charged slightly more if it was the driver side window. Also they increased their warranty to 10 years. Is any of that still true?

RV Fog Doctor in Searcy, AR also repairs fogged RV windows. We had 5 of ours done when we passed thru that area last summer. $300 for the big driver's window, $200 for all the others.
They put your coach inside, take the windows out, take them apart to clean and reseal them, and put them back in your coach. Did all of mine in 8 hours.

I just walked to the office and asked.
You are correct... the driver side window does cost more...and the "prorated warranty" is 10 years.
BTW there's an "up charge" if any of your glass panes are so badly etched that they can't be cleaned.

I have seen motorhomes come in with totally opaque windows that had to have new glass. Once you see moisture between the panes get it repaired before they become etched beyond repair. It used to take 3 days to get new glass but I was told it is now taking over a week. They do have some in stock but that doesn't cover all sizes. Last time I was there I had to have new glass because mine had been shattered by a rock . Luckily my size was in stock and I was out in 24 hours.
