Window screen added to emergency window

Like many of us, I wanted to be able to open our bedroom emergency window for ventilation and wished there were a screen. I jerry-rigged a solution that is working perfectly for us. I've mentioned it a couple of times on this forum and folks have asked for pictures, which I'm now including.
I bought a roll of velcro with adhesive and placed it all around the window on the black metal. I put it on with the 2 sides of velcro attached to one another and one side sticking to the window frame and the sticky part on the other side facing the room. Then I cut a piece of plastic window screen a little larger than the window, and placed it on the sticky velcro. I made a little dart (a fold in the screen fabric) even with the red catches to allow a little bulge in the screen since the catches stick out a little beyond the plane of the window frame. Then I trimmed the excess screen and put black duck tape around the edge of the screen to keep dirt, etc from sticking to the sticky part of the velcro in the screen openings. At the bottom, I used a little of the duck tape to make tabs to make it easier to pull the bottom part of the velcro apart. Now I can pull the bottom of the screen out, open the window, put a small stick in to keep the window open and then velcro the screen back tight. I ordered a set of cheap chopsticks from Amazon to use for the stick to hold the window open since I didn't have anything else handy the right size. I've also put a fan on the dresser facing into the room and so with or without the window open, I can get good air circulation in there.
The project took less than half an hour to complete and the only tool needed is a pair of scissors. I used velcro with only a 3 lb rating rather than a stronger mounting tape because I wanted to be able to very easily pull apart the velcro since I have to do that each time I want to open or close the window.

Simply amazing! I just did the same thing a month ago. Great minds, they say.
My only deviance is that I stitched a hem all around the screen's edge, then stitched the Velcro.
I also have my prop rod go through a reinforced hole in the screen. The prop rod has slots to engage the vertical lip on the window frame.

I have screen I hold on with clips. I also prop open the window and use a small bungee cord to hold it closed under tension.

The pink arrow points towards a wooden target that has been double-sticky taped to the glass. It's purpose is to hold the prop rod in position on the glass.

The yellow arrow points towards a second prop rod to show the slots that have been sawn into the rod, for engaging the vertical lip on the window frame.

The red arrow points towards the vertical lip that engages the rod slot.

The reinforcement of the screen is simply a piece of the velcro (loop side) stitched onto the screen and a hole punched through.

new bedroom window!!!!!!!!!!!

During my delivery last month I discussed the bedroom window issue and my tech said he had just installed one but didn't remember the part number. The parts guys in my service bldg looked up some drawings for 2018 and got a part number for the new window. My DW brought chop sticks, velcro, and screening to make the "system" but I ordered the window instead! Just got pics from Newmar:

Thanks!

Thanks so much for posting that! Newmar must have listened to our concerns and gotten the manufacturer to create it. Could you measure the window so I can see if it would fit in our 2915 DSDP?

I think I paid $400 and change but I was told I was getting a discount because I ordered while they were doing the delivery week at the factory.

The window is a Hehr IG 27x22x2.5 VENT EG. My quote from Newmar in June was $405.90 and 1 hour labor for installation. It was a special order and took 4 weeks to get the window.
