So far in our 2002 KS gasser, the little women has broken 3 window shades. Has anyone else broke one
and how the heck do they come off?

Haven't yet when I bought the coach the bedroom shade was broken dealer tried to sneek it by he had to replace. The shades have a knob on mine, two for larger shade, will hold these when moving up or down slowly. Have also run wax candle up an down strings, the shade seems to slide better when I do this. Some people have replaced strings with fishing twine go to "Find" above type in "restring window shade" take off check mark. "007"

I'm in the same boat, however we were able to go to the SWC factory (Specialty Window Coverings) the ones that are put in Newmar Products. They gave me Pamlets on instulation and repair of their windows. I haven't done this yet as mine is in storage but on the top part of the shade you grab it and twist it upward and suppose to come off or apart. I'm sure they would send you Info on this. here is what I have.

Phelpo,
Another one you can check on line if the other doesn't work out for you. I haven't dealt with the company, but they deal specifically with RV and boat furniture and window coverings.

Take care.

my 1996 ksdp has had 3 strings break. each time i have the shades repaired at the shade manufacturer. they can be removed and replaced easily. the way they got broken was moving both shades at the same time. the day shade needs to be moved first and then the nite shade. if the string is too loose just loosen the screw holding the string at the bottom and tighten the string and then the screw.

We had 3 broken strings on our New-to-us 1996 Mountain Aire. The wife and I set to and re-threaded the cords by looking at how the other ones worked. First one took 39 minutes to strip and re-build. Second one took 15.
