Window shades in baystar 2901

We've been looking at a baystar 2901. I really like the newmar products. One of the items I'm not too crazy about are the window shades. They don't seem to give much privacy at night. What are other rv'ers experiences and if you have changed out the shades what manufacturer did you use . Also are the motorized shades worth it ? I see it as one more thing to break but then I'm not that experienced with this item. I realize it's a lot of questions but I figure I might as well get them all in at once. Thanks in advance.

Noted that the Baystar has pleated shades. We had this type of shades in our 2006 Dutch Star DP and they kept breaking up and the shades were faded and dried by the Sun.
In April, we spent 1.5 day at Classic Coach Works in Lakeland, FL and replaced them with AutoMotion Shades, made in Canada. Front duo shades are electric and our bedroom and toilet has manual shades.

I bet for under $4,000 you could have installed in your coach this type of shade, manual. We did not touch the coakpit roller shades as they do the job well and did not want to add an extra $2,000 to the bill. Classic Coach Works also redid our front boxes and valances (removed ?? by original owner and replaced with cheap looking curtains)

I have a baystar with the pleated shades. I cannot see into my coach and I cannot see out of my coach with these shades. If the lights are on at night I can see shadows looking in if someone is right by the window.

Since these are two shades in one - if I forget to pull down the privacy shade that is a different story. If you are new to this type of shade - you may be looking through the sunscreen shade and not the privacy shade. For now I am quite satisfied with the setup.

The standard day/night shades will not allow anyone to see in at night providing the "night " shade is deployed. IMO, the electric options are just something else to go wrong

Agree DanS
But electricity is now part of our RV lives .....so we deal with it and if problems, like other issues, we deal with it

As for the pleated shades....they should not exist
