Windshield opening cut too large at the factory?

We are still in the inspection phase of a 2004 Mountain Aire we are considering buying. While reviewing some of the seller's repair and maintenance invoices, one showed that the windshield opening had a fiberglass lip added to the upper portion of the windshield opening 8 years ago because noise and air was entering the cap. The ticket writer wrote that a lip needed to be added because the factory cut the windshield opening too large. (Does this sound right and has anyone else had to have this modification done to their Newmar)?
Also, the driver's side windshield and gasket were replaced about 4 months before the modification mentioned above. I wonder if the front cap and/or windshield may have been damaged from striking a stationary object or from something hitting it while driving previously. I questioned the owner and she didn't remember them striking anything. I'm going to call Newmar Monday about this. Any thoughts?

Someone made a mistake and cut opening to large for size windshield at MFG of front cap and Newmar added the fiberglass strip to fill in the gap.
If there has not been any further leaks with the fix from 8 years ago it has stand up well.
Rubber gaskets for windshields do have to be replaced over time if they dry out or bonding cement dry's out.
If you have to have a windshield replaced because of a cracked windshield and window company does not mount correctly as Newmar would mount, than the window could drop out of rubber surrounding gasket, has happened to people.

Thanks '007'. Do you personally know of anyone that had the same issue?

The sellers said the windshield had recently been removed to change out the stock refrig for a residential refrig. I believe the same shop that added the fiberglass strip and new gasket 8 years ago also replaced the refrig. and at the same time replaced the windshield gasket again. Hopefully the shop did as good a job this time also.

Over the years, various manufacturers have had issues with oversized holes an had to fill them. I've read several posts where Monaco openings were cut to big and some posts where the frames prematurely rusted out.
