Windshield Problem

We have a DSDP 3815 with a 2 piece windshield.. While driving, we noticed a lot of wind noise.. I stopped and got out and noticed the glass in the upper corner and coming down about 15" on the drivers side was out of the rubber seal.. Has anyone had this problem..? Do you think a regular automotive windshield tech could fix this problem..
Thanks, Keith

I would call around the area and find out what shop does work for local bus company`s or truck fleets.

Had the same problem last year while on the road. I had "racked" our DSDP 3865 driving down an unexpectedly steep driveway at an angle to avoid scraping the rear end. Thank goodness the upper corner of the windshield popped out of the seal instead of breaking. The first indication of what had happened was when we returned to highway speed after the driveway exit ... lots of noise!

We drove on with the radio turned up barely competing with the noise because this happened quite early one morning. At sunup we were in Tifton, GA and googled "auto glass". We called the first listing and he referred us to another. We drove to his shop and found the lot too small for our bus & toad. We drove back to a Lowe's and dropped the toad. When I went back and explained our predicament, the owner followed me to the bus and reseated the windshield corner with a stiff, thin piece of plastic in 10 minutes while standing on the edge of his truck bed! For payment, he said, "Oh, I'll be happy with twenty." I gratefully doubled that, and told my wife that might just be the best deal we'll ever get on MH service!

I hope your fix is just as painless. Good luck!

Can a regular automotive glass tech fix it: YES; Are they willing to do it: Depends.

There are 2 ways to do the job.. True story:

When it first happened to me the dealer called Guardian Glass, Detroit, in less than 30 minutes they re-set the windshield, the wet behind the ears tech scratched his.. You know what and said "Duh, it'll probably come out again" and in this he was right.

Somewhere between Windslow and Kingman, AZ on a friday night.

Strapped to keep it from getting worse and drove to Las Vegas where Damon sent me to a dealer that has since sold out to Camping world, They called Dave Simpson Glass who took 3 days, He removed the windshield and gasket, Used a ureathine type sealent adheasive to re-install and pointed out what he did did not like about the result, The dealer took photos, e-mailed to Damon and later I went to the factory and they fixed the cause. Again a 3-day job.

Note that at the factory I slept in the RV every night (on their parking apron).

Now several years later I have noticed the windshield starting to slip once more.

I added a strap (Nylon ratchet strap) and a couple of anchors and re-sealed with urethane sealant and GOOP .. Since then it has not slipped further.... Though I check the strop often.

You do not need a lot of tension, just enough to keep the strap from blowing about.

Apparently quite a common occurrence......had it happen just driving down the freeway in Indiana earlier this year. See attached thread: http://www.irv2.com/forums/f103/help...em-124832.html
