Winter Tours Shutdown

We were planning to go see our Rig being built this go-round. However, I was just informed by the customer experience folks that tours are not offered during the winter. I did not know that. Bummer. Makes sense - the weather is a bit harsh, etc.

For other newbies, per the Newmar Website:
Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018 will be the last day of tours for winter shutdown.
Monday, April 1, 2019 Newmar tours will return, offering 2 tours per day at 10 a.m. & 1 p.m. est.

I don't think it has anything to do with the weather. I've always thought it was a way to keep the new model year under wraps until Newmar is ready to release details. I definitely could be wrong though.

The 2019 models are already out so would they be manufacturing 2020 models in the winter of 2018/19? When do the new model years get released?

Huh - - - I believe in the past, the tours went to one per day throughout the winter.

Perhaps this will help: https://www.newmarcorp.com/blog/intr...ur-experience/

And as far as the weather being harsh - - as I point my rig south today, there was an inch of snow to welcome us as we got up this AM.....Indeeanner - - don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes....! LOL

Shutdown Info: https://www.newmarcorp.com/why-newmar/factory-tour/

I put "etc" in my original post as I thought it "might" also have something to do with the new models.

It was in the 40's this morning for my walk, and a low of 38 here in central Florida overnight. Indy Glenn, are you bringing the cold weather with you? LOL. Safe Travels!

What months does Indiana typically salt their highways?

Well - we have had ice and snow already - so they are salted, typically late November, December through March or April. Indiana is in a very unique position. The northern border is in ski country the southern brother is in The South - so every type weather is possible. If you are not wanting your rig to get salt, I suggest you plan your visit June through October, keeping in mind salt residue stays well into the Spring and Spring brings rain and "Salty Roads".

Hi superman11,

No tours when the plant is shut down. The December 20 date is the beginning of the holiday shutdown. During the winter there is one tour per day at 10 AM.

Thanks, but it seems it goes until April next year? Is this new or SOP?

Well hush my mouth. superman11, you are correct. After Dec 20 there will be no tours until April. This is new. It started this past winter. Just goes to show even Newmar can change tradition.

Our 2018 DS was built the last 2 weeks of February. We wanted to go to the factory and take some pictures of the build so I called Newmar and was told there were no tours and we were not allowed to enter the factory to get any pictures or watch any part of the build. Yes it was a bummer, but you can’t dwell on things you have no control over.
