Winterizing Maytag residential refrigerator

During the coach winterization I'm always a little hesitant on how to do the ice maker in the residential frig.
Is it best to :
1: Just turn the ice maker off immediately after an ice dump, possibly
leaving a small amount of water in each cube maker due to melting
process to dump the cubes, and run the water dispenser until pink
stuff appears. Then leave it this way all winter.

2: Or run the water dispenser till pink appears first, then turn ice maker
on so will dump normal ice and refill with pink then let the pink
cubes
dump later so cube sections will be empty all winter (assuming the
slushy pink cube will be solid enough to dump - never tried this). This will
probably leave some pink liquid in bottom of each ice cube form for the winter.

Never know if any fluid left in ice cube sections all winter can cause any damage or flaking off of material in the sections. In our last house ice maker after a few years it looked like little metalic spots flaked off on cubes.

Best, I don't know, but letting the ice maker make pink cubes is what I do. It takes time (planning) but you are sure to get antifreeze into every line.

As for flushing it out the hardest part is the chilled water tank which you have to do anyway and you can just dump the first 10 or 15 set of ice cubes.

Don't forget to pull your water filter and bypass it.

I remove the refrigerator water filter, then run the water in the door until pink comes out, then have the icemaker on until they form a pink slush. Clearly anything actually IN the icemaker can handle freezing temperatures, but I run it to pink slush just to be sure all lines in the fridge are purged of water.

first, take out any internal water filter. you may need to install a dummy canister or bypass plug to allow the water to still flow.

second, run water out the in-door water dispenser until it comes out pick.

third, manually cycle the ice maker for a couple of cycles until it is dispensing pick. there are several you-tube videos on how to manually cycle the ice maker.
