I have often wondered if using tennis balls long term would decrease the spring tension that keeps the blades against the glass.

So, are using tennis balls a good thing or not?

I would appreciate your comments

I have been using tennis balls on our wipers for years. Put them in a position that will just keep the rubber off the glass.

Ditto here. Hi-viz Tennis Balls - so I can’t miss then when time to roll.

303 is a protectant, not a revitalizer. Soaking the blades in silicone would be better.

I just buy new blades every year or so.

Try a cover

I purchased a set of mirror and wiper covers for not much money. Since I started using the wiper covers my wipers have not deteriorates. I think I am on year three on my wipers. I have a spare set unused and stored under my slide tray. I do apply 303 periodically just as I apply 303 to all of my RV and car rubber seals. I have replaced my covers once in the last five years.

Wiper blade cover

I use a small pool noodle, cut to size, slit down the middle and slide on the wiper. Left over noodle gets cut to size, slit and used on the slide out corners to save my head when I walk around the unit.

Doubtful that they will last decades but they should last "a while".
Great idea simple cheap and works

Just don't forget to remove them before you drive off.
That's what I do as well, when my rig's in storage. This protects against UV damage.

Smile Different solution for wiper blades

My wife showed me the OP on IRV2, and I went, hmm. Poked around in the garage, located a pair of PVC pieces 3/4" about 7" long. A little grinder action to make a wide groove on one end of each, and voila!! Holds the blades completely off the windshield. Maybe not work for everyone, but it works for me.

We're on our third set of noodles (the sun eventually kills them). Keeps the UV rays off the rubber and the rubber flexible. No brainer!!

It’s is what we do in storage. Covers and free (used/found) tennis balls. Has worked well for years.

I live in Florida, Tennis balls hold the wipers away from the window but the pool noodles protect the rubber wipers from being beat up by the sun as they are totally covered.

I like hearing about the noodles. In the past have used spring loaded clothes pins but will switch to the noodle idea.
