Barker dump valve actuator

The Barker exploded view shows the valve drive to be a rack and pinion system, does anyone know the materials of the gear and rack. Regardless of lubing, my 3” dump valve seems to take a lot of force to open andI am concerned re durability.

And, yes, I grease valve stem regularly.

The mounting of the valve is hard to access which likely makes forces seem exaggerated.

They are plastic...

My gate valves where sticky/old...so I installed new ones at the same time I installed the Barker units. I think I paid $11 to $13 bucks for new ones. Don’t need the fancy aluminum T handles...the black plastic ones are fine...you take the handles off anyway.

While your at it...you may consider this mod. I don’t profess to know if it’s a true winner...but I thought it couldn’t hurt...

This is interesting. I think I will be doing this when I finalize my wetbay.

Waiting for cooler Texas weather to get back into the mods.

Thanks for posting this!

Have you ever thought of integrating something like this for automated flushing? - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The fitting size is to small if 1" is the largest.

Here is my list as a PDF and the sites are linked. This includes the Sanicon hose, the braided nylon hose cover and 2" shrink tubing.

Im all for automation and as I posted previously in this thread, having a way to dump the tanks from inside is absolutely essential for our next build. Im not quite sure ill go the way of automation so I'm wondering if anyone has done just the switches inside and can post up some pics. This is such a great thread with some great info. And thanks for the shopping list.

NealC’s got a thread on his mod. He 3d printed a very nice panel for his sponge drawer...(flip open panel in front of the sink). There he houses switches for the dump system and his sanicon. He uses Drain Master...which sell different configurations making it easy to mount a pair of switches outside and another inside.

Thanks! Trying to figure out where I should run wires in our new build. Currently I have them going to the cabinet over the toilet but might reconsider that location.

That's where Dutch Star Don has his. The good thing there is you have a 12 V panel to pull power from.

If running wires for new build...I would have considered mounting the switches in the back bathroom. So...wires for second SeeLevel II and Wires for DrainMaster...and Sanicon pump if needed. Probably mount next to sink where water pump switch is now.

The things that might require dumping some holding tank fluid is a full black tank shutting down the macerator toilet...and possibly taking a shower or doing laundry. So if you needed to use the macerator and the red light is on..you are arms reach. Of if you are standing in the shower stall and water starts backing up because someone forgot to check the gray...you are arms reach away.

If you have guests sleeping in the den...and you wanted to say, take a shower...but the tanks full...if you have a remote SeeLevel II Panel...you can see tank levels...and if you have switches...you can operate the waste valves.

My install was all after market additions. I opted for wireless for both things...so I can check tank levels and dump tanks via Bluetooth and WiFi...from our smartphones or tablets. On the coach, laying in bed, sitting in the hammock outside with a cold one.

All good thoughts and ideas. My current specials list has them running to the mid ship bath, but I might consider running to the rear bath... I don't want to spend too much time on the install and planning it all out. all I know is that I HATED running outside to dump the tanks in the rain and snow...

I think on a 4369 the back bath is the best place. You should consider having the read out panel there as well. If I were building mine again I would put the read out back there as well as the Oasis panel. I have the Oasis there now but I had Oasis make a splitter and have an Oasis front and back. I was told that someone asked for it and they denied it but at the HOOT's rally Ron Stichler got a lot of feedback on the folks that want it there and you may be able to get it done. If I only had a choice of one location for both it would be in the back bath.

May go deeper. RedBaron almost has his perfected. He now has the KIB part working correctly after much to do with the KIB field rep. He proved to them it was the algorithms that were not working correctly not the fault of the sensors. His has the third or forth rewrite of their program that was done mid-September and has been working just fine since then.

But he has his Arduino working almost perfect. So I may to go there if it is done.

Good to hear from you. We need to get Cory and do lunch one day.
