Wood and metal shavings under slideout

First, we are fairly clueless newbies, but we are trying hard to learn. Some background. In February, we purchased a pre-owned, 2015 Canyon Star/3914. It was originally purchased as a left-over, so it was still under the one year warranty and it had only 4,000 miles. It was brought back to the same dealership where is was originally purchased and traded up for a DP. We took a shakedown trip and as a result had a bit of warranty work completed. The most major issue is related to the door-side slide-out. I am shooting for brevity here, but I'll apologize in advance

The slide wasn't closing flush (rain was coming in), and when the slides were opened after a period of driving, a few piles of wood and metal shavings would be left on the floor of the coach. It was discovered that the controller was over-torqueing when closing which eventually caused the slide bracket to twist. Controller replaced with a "better/updated version" and new, thicker bracket installed--problem solved... but maybe not.

Went on another trip and upon returning home and extending the slides--same piles of shavings. The pile on the door-side is significant, the off-door side, not as great. It is concerning to us that whatever the problem is, it doesn't seem it was related to the faulty controller/bracket. The coach is going in for service in about a week. The one year warranty has expired but we've been in touch with Newmar and I believe they are going to continue to cover this since it is an ongoing issue.

I have attached photos. The first photo is the pile that is left in front of the stove area on the door side and the second one is what is left along the front of the pantry on the off-door side. There are also shaving deposited near the sofa, but not as much as these two. I am wondering if this issue is familiar to anyone. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks in advance!!

My guess would be that it's from construction of the coach. There's always some construction mess that takes a while to shake out, no matter how much they clean up during the build.

On our previous coaches, which were both Tiffins, I found numerous piles of debris behind every cubby hole. Not in our Newmar, it has been very clean behind panels when I remove anything to investigate what is behind them.

yes, probably from construction, unless it is from movement and the slide opening is not QUITE wide enough such that it scrapes more 'stuff'

I would be more worried about the water intrusion than the shavings though...
(and maybe THAT's the reason it was traded back in :( )

be sure to air that puppy out and get it fixed asap (document every step of the way !) good luck !

Can the shaving be cleaned out before the construction is over? Can it be cleaned out after and not by moving the slide in and out?

Mostly looks like shavings from construction not cleaned up very well.I would clean up and with slides extended use the radiator fitting to suck as much as can be removed under slide floor.
With slides in look under slide with flashlight and see if most is removed.

Sawdust and metal dust like that is left over from manufacturing and just sloppy house keeping by the builder. There is nothing short of Beavers that could cause that while driving or camping.

The water intrusion was resolved when the slide control and bracket were replace. Since that service, we've had plenty of rain to test and thankfully, no more water!!

Thanks 007 and will do this, but "radiator fitting"?? VERY new to the world of RV ownership. :P

Your vacuum may have a fitting that's flat to slip under your coach slide and kitchen slides.

FTD - we have a 2016 CS 3914 that we have had for just over a year. We also find some debris in those same locations each time, but ours is only about 1/20th of what you are showing and ours is typically more metal than wood.

We found this stuff all over our coach. Under the televator, in the water storage tank area, etc. Just like house construction... leave the junk behind and move on if not in sight. We asked the dealer to vacuum most of it.
