Wrong Coordinates

Broke down a month ago. Gave the tow truck driver coordinates from google maps and apple, they were both the same. When the driver arrived he called and said we were not there. After some back and forth I got in my car to see what mile marker we were close to. When I got back and called the driver with the mile marker he said we were a good 80 miles away! How could that be?Anyone else have this happen? Are there better systems to determine where we are?

I see a set of long numbers coming from you to the dispatcher then to the truck driver and then he enters it into the GPS unit

Looks like a really good chance something got fat fingered along the way.

Any chance you checked the coordinates the tow truck driver had against what you had told the dispatcher?

80 miles is a big problem as above I would suspect the dispatcher or truck driver.

A chance of error would be one system reading deg:min:sec and the other deg:min not sure how far off that would be would have to enter to see.

Also an excuse for why it took so long to get there.

We called for a battery jump several months ago in our Toad. Got a call from the tow truck guy who couldnít find us. He asked if I had an iPhone (I did) and he talked me through a series of screens (canít remember what) and he said that he now knew where we were. Showed up within 5 minutes. Pretty cool stuff. Too bad I canít remember what he had me do. It would be useful if I tried to locate DW at the shopping mall or if we got separated on a hike.

I agree with a few other posters. Someone along the chain of communication fat fingered your coordinates, thus the 80 mile delta between you and the tow truck.
