Xite Radio and Rand McNally challenges

We have a 2021 Ventana and this is our first experience with the Xite radio and RM GPS/360 system it has with it. At the moment, I am working through some challenges with it and am wondering if these things are normal, if anyone has had these experiences and if someone has a solution. I will be 'playing' with it some more tomorrow at Newmar's request and then probably talking to Riverpark to explain what is happening.
1. The Xite stereo kept rebooting while we are driving. Stereo is playing, GPS is on the screen and navigating. It will turn music off and go to the Newmar screen. Music will eventually start back up and the GPS will come back and continue the navigation but it probably takes 5-10 minutes for all of this. It happened three times in about 30 miles toward the end of our drive one day, when I actually needed navigation. Previous occurrences have been sporadic (I cannot recreate it on demand, it just happens).

2. Rand McNally card says it is updated on my laptop but dash unit says it is over a year old. The date on the card is 12/20.

3. An error message in a box appears when it is re-booting or whatever it is doing.

4. It is really slow to start up music or the GPS. I have walked away from it to do something else because it was so slow. Especially when I want the GPS to start up so I can put a destination in it.

In advance, I appreciate your input! Tim

I had a similar experience with this in 2 different winnebagos' In both cases it turned out to be over heating.

As far as the updates go, Riverpark are great guys. They will have you delete a file on the chip and then it will update.

Good luck.

See the below post for how to get rid of the maps out of date warning message.

I took mine out and replaced it with a kenwood and my trusty Garmin 890. The Xite was unreliable, unintuitive, poorly supported and had poor /outdated maps even after updating. I think itís fundamental problem is an obsolete operating system.

Your SD card is most likely faulty, I think it can be replaced with any top end Sandisk Ultra 8-32GB cards. You'll likely need to copy over the files from the original to make the Dock software recognize it for update. Make sure to run the diagnostics first then the update, then diagnostics again. (if you haven't already run Dock diagnostics on the original card, run them first!)

The GPS boot will generally be clunky or slow, like 15-30+ seconds sometimes. I attribute it to a badly designed program. If you have turn signal cameras you might even see this every time you use them. Any longer, probably an SD card issue.

I got tired of dealing with mine so I ditched the RM GPS entirely and put Waze/Google/Copilot/anything else on the screen instead by mirroring my phone to it. Works better, faster and more accurately than RM, plus the sound is better.
