Xite, Rand McNally nav prompt volume

I can’t seem to get Navigation prompt volume to change independently of the radio volume. Has anyone figured out how to do this?
If I set the Navigation to where I can hear it the radio volume is way to high. Thanks Stuart

The only thing I have figured out to do, is under the audio balance, I set the balance to rear @ 1 or 2. This setting works for me.

We have not been happy with the Exite, feature wise or otherwise. Wish we had deleted it when we ordered the coach and had a good aftermarket unit with Garmin GPS installed. That's on the list to do before we take our next extended trip in the spring.

Stuart, I'm guessing you may have already tried this, but on many NAV units I've dealt with, I find that if you adjust the volume while the unit is talking, it will adjust up and down.

I found this for NAV volume in the Xite Manual.

Audio Settings
Center /Woofer Volume: Sets the volume level for an optional center speaker when connected (-10 - +10).
Loudness: Sets the volume level of speaker when connected (0-10)
NAV Volume: Sets the gain of navigation volume (-10 - +10). This feature will help balance the navigation audio prompts with the system volume level according to the individual user preference.
NAV Audio Mix: This option allows setting the way of navigation voice behavior in relation to the normal audio playback. The following options are available:
1. OFF: Navigation voice will not be audible.
2. MIX: Navigation voice will mix through normal audio.
3. FULL: Normal audio will be muted on the front speakers during navigation voice instructions.

The nav volume was set to +10 and couldn’t hear the nav unless the radio volume was to high. Will try today on the road

I think you want it set to NAV "FULL" too, where the radio speakers mute while the NAV gives directions. It looks like yours is set to NAV "MIX".

If you turn off the mix, it will cut out other audio.

You can do that by pressing and holding the Nav button for a second or two. Do the same to bring the radio back.

The Xcite box can do a lot of neat things but you have to study the manual to learn them.

Well it was a long day of driving today, I did experiment with different settings. With the Mix on it was not good, Nav volume was weak. Nav volume to +10 helped , but still had times where the volume was weak, as suggested turned the fader to +2 for rear speakers also some improvement but agin still times where volume was weak. My overall opinion of the Xite/Rand McNally navigation, its crap. Operation not intuitive, inconsistent operation, no clear way to navigate screens. $2,000 in the [emoji1005]
