2001 Alpine Coach 40' Need New Radiator

Hello Group. I'm in Albuquerque, New Mexico headed north to Montana and just like that, I spring a radiator leak. It's a good size steady stream squirting out from the coils on the motor side of my side radiator. I know I can try to put some leak stop in it, but whats the best ya'll would recommend ? Since it's old and the previous owner didn't maintain properly, I may just get it changed out. Does anyone know what model would replace the one I have. Also, does anyone know of a good shop around here to get it done properly. Thanks for your help. It has a 350 Cummins.

Not good news here--nothing avail off the shelf, has to be fabricated....Burt Morgan is out of NOS rads....if not too bad, you might be able to "patch" old rad to get to MT but R&R labor is much of the cost here....be careful, believe newer model rads specs different from your older model. Proper re-mounting of rad in the stack is also a major consideration.... As stated above, fabricated rads are avail from several sources...

Years ago I took my coach for some paint work they called and said my radiator was leaking and I said it has never leaked a drop in 8 years. I went to the shop and it literally was pouring out as fast as they filled it. I went and bought some Barrs stop leak (2 of the heavy duty) and 6 years later still no leaking. Not saying this is for everyone but when you get told its a 10k repair you tend to do what you have to.

I wasn't worldly enough to pick up on the insult. Now my psyche is damaged. Thanks.

Hey Joe, I am sorry you are having trouble. I went back an re-read your original post. It sounds like you need stop leak or a tow, plus somebody who can fix your radiator. I'd be inclined to try Barr's Stop Leak as recommended earlier in this thread. If you want to do more research, you could search using this string:

radiator stop leak:https://www.irv2.com/forums/f104/

I wish you good luck with your problem.

Laissez les bon temps rouler!

Thanks for everyone's help. Sorry if I miss took your helping me as an insult. Just gets very frustrating when motorhome is down and can't find any help. I was able to find a repair shop after numerous calls and going to 3 shops. *Repair man says a rock must have hit it. If ever you in Albuquerque NM. Check out*Loya's Tires. They do tires and radiators. Even hooked us up with electricity and stayed in motorhome while the fixed it. Thanks yall.

Just curious, what was the fix? Did they need to remove the radiator? Did they replace it?

Off topic - Cajun Joe. Are there any useable campgrounds around Houma? I have family in Thibodaux and Larose. but Google does not show any campgrounds in the area.

Feel free to PM if you wish.

We are in a 2003 Alpine 36MDDS.

2001 Alpine Coach 40' Need New Radiator

Hi, they removed the rear side quarter panel. Took radiator off. Saw the hole which he said must have been a rock hitting it. Welded a patch on the hole. Pressured it up. Saw that the top portion gasket was leaking, so changed that gasket. Ran some chemical through it, cleaner agent I think. Put it all back together, with new coolant. 3 yr. Warranty. $3,700. New one cost about $7000 and I couldn't even find one. I'm OK with paying that much, I just hope it last.
