3rd Brake Light Converted to LED
I tried to replace this 3rd brake light and had trouble with finding the original plus I wanted LEDs anyway.
After some searching, I found this replacement:
JSP Center High-Mount Stop Lamp CHMSL 9.75 x 1.125 inch Third Brake Light W34LED
$24.96 total
It fit pretty well with only minor tweeks.
1. It had an adhesive foam rubber gasket on front edge that came off with some heat, rubbing and WD40.
2. I had to use a round file on the screw holes to get the positioning correct to cover gaps and center in the original cutout.
All in all, I'm very satisfied with the way it turned out.

Looks nice also like the new LED tail lights you put in. Looks a bit more modern now.
Mine are converted to LED (so just the bulb) but I should just have bought new once I did not know at the time that they were Ford Ecoline lights.

I've never been able to make our 3rd brake light work.
Everything is plugged in but no power to it when the brakes are applied.
The housing and ground check ok, lights up If I physically put 12v to it...but the Jeep usually blocks it anyhow.
Like the LED tail light upgrade, very nice.
They are kinda proud of tho$e Econoline LED housings.

I bought from eBay but Walmart and JSPAmerica sells them too.
If you google " JSP Center High-Mount Stop Lamp CHMSL 9.75 x 1.125 inch Third Brake Light W34LED", you will find it.

Wondering where you got your tail lights and if they were plug and play and a good fit? I'd like to replace mine and the leds are nice and modern looking. I might as well $pend a couple of bucks and get a jump on 2021 1st quarter expenditures.
Thanks, Terry

I put those tail lights in 2015, so don't have the ordering info anymore. Also I don't remember a big effort in wiring or body work fitting. The ones I have are nice looking and they are bright. The only complaint I have is the difference between tail and brake light modes, as they don't have a huge difference between two modes. Hence the 3rd brake light is very important to me. If I was buying again I'd look for more brightness difference between just tail light mode and the brake light mode.
But I believe they were replaced based on this tread:

Hope that helps.

I was asked to give a close up picture of the light and how well it fit, as it is an oval and the old fixture is rectangular. Here it is. If I wanted to to improve it, I could use paint cutting or rubbing compound to remove some of the silhouette left from the old fixture. But considering everything, I'm satisfied the way things are. As I said the only modification was enlarging the mounting holes a small amount to better center the fixture in the opening.

I posted this a few years ago. The original 3rd brake light for many Alpines.

jbenalpine can you tell me where you obtained your LED replacement tail lights from? I'd like to do the same. We replaced our headlights with LED halo aftermarkets from protuninglabs but that was a huge fail. I don't want to make the same mistake this time with sub par tail lights.

On those tail lights, as I said earlier I changed them in 2015 and don't have the purchasing info anymore. They were from an ebay seller. Looking on ebay I don't see any just like them now, but this looks similar and could be better.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/IPCW-LEDT-5...oAAOSw5bdecd0M
If you read thru the comments in the thread above there's mention of another thread that was on LED tail lights specifically and that may be helpful.
One thing you are going from the European style where brake and turn signal are separate to a combined brake and turn signal with these tail lights. To combine the turn and brake light, Roadmaster makes a convertor, Roadmaster PN 732, that will take care of that, with some simple wiring. It can also be used on a towed vehicle or trailer so can serve two purposes.
Hope that helps, but if you need more let me know.

Alright Jay, sorry I missed the previous info regarding their purchase. I'll have a look at the link you've provided.
