ABS Light

I have a ABS light on. I have read the old threads about the ABS light being on and after reading them I have a question. Just how important is the ABS system on a Coach? Some suggest put black tape over the light while others managed to fix it. I am having a hell of a problem finding someone to look at it. I am in Arizona and called Cummins in PHX and they don't have the equipment to work on it. I get the samething at every other place I have called. Does anyone know who can work on the ABS sytem in Arizona, or do I just tape it off and forget about it?

I am not sure if they have the proper diagnostic equipment, but Redlands Truck Service found my problem and fixed it. (Contamination on the sensor.) Not in Arizona, but relatively close. The light is no longer on. And yes, it does light during the startup, so they didn't just disconnect it!!

In 5+ years I have never hit the brakes hard enough to trigger the ABS system, so don't ask me if the system works.

Another repair shop did state that the ABS system is probably not necessary under most conditions. You are not likely to lock the wheels. But in rain, snow, or other slick conditions it could be pretty important.

ABS

Thanks for the replies. Right after I posted this I happened to remember about Massey's in Phoenix. I had stopped in there once before last year for a minor problem. this time I will keep his number handy.

Call a truck service place - they know how to test ABS sensors. We had the light go on after our recent brake fiasco. They (TAG Truck Center in Tupelo, MS) found one of the sensors had popped out of position. They also pulled out and tested all of the ABS sensors to make sure.

After that, they told us the ABS light would off after like 15 miles for a minute - or something like that. Sure enough, it did!
