Alpine/Peak Koni shocks

For others that have spent time searching....

https://www.ultrarvproducts.com/Koni...s-Alpine-Coach
Seemed to have the lowest price.
If you search by year, their listing only went up to about 2004 so i let them know.
Mines a 2007 34' so i called just to make sure.
John said he would update the listing.

Part numbers

Front 99B-3209 $225
Rear 8805-1022 $185
flat rate $12 Sh

If you served, ask for the Military discount.
Every little bit helps.

Yes, Brazels is the place to go for Koni’s.
You gave correct part numbers, but front and rear pn#s are swapped…
I was amazed when I ordered them, they were here the next day.

If ordering from UltraRV make sure your shocks are new. I ordered 6 Koni’s from them (2 front, 4 rear). Two of the rears showed evidence of being previously installed. Had residue in the bolt grommets and a dent in the same place where it must have made contact with the suspension.

Would any one be able to send me some photos of their shocks? I'd like some info... Need to know the clearance and where their may be some. I see that some applications will not fit the front shock 2.75". Trying to see if a 3.0" diameter shock will fit.

I'd also like to know the shock dimensions ID & Width.

Let me know if you can help. We are trying to help another customer but do not have one to get measurements from.

I'd appreciate your help.

Mine should be here today or tomorrow so i can spec them out.
But the link above shows the width/dia to be 2.75" for the 99b front shock.
The difference to a 3" is 1/4" so that would be 1/8" larger on each side of the circle.

"Note: Some Spartan applications do not have enough clearance to accommodate the larger diameter of this shock. Please measure your existing shock diameter if you have a Reyco Granning 1200 axle, the 99B-3209 is 2.75" in diameter."

Collapsed Length Extended Length Upper Mount Lower Mount
14.92" 23.59" Eye 3/4" Eye 3/4"

Started to swap out the front shocks.
Tools: 1 1/8 socket and wrench.
Impact
tapered punch
Hammer
jack

Took me about 1hr.
I'm on dirt so i placed boards down for the jacks.
Lowered all 4 till they touched and then extended the ones I was working on.
I started with the front so i lifted the front until the tires were just off the ground.
I could just reach the upper bolt from top or bottom.
Once the nuts were off, I found the bolts were under tension so the axle drops further than the shocks will allow.
So I place a jack under the axle and lifted just enough to allow a little play in the shock.
The front shocks were the Koni 88's.
The new are the larger 99's
I could easily extend and retract the old ones by hand.
I used anti seize on the bolts prior to assembly.

Got the rear done.
Turns out i had 1 out of 4 shocks that still had any dampening.
The rear was completed the same as the front, same tools.
The rear was way tighter space to get into than the front.
Definitely raise it up and then place a jack under the center of the rear bar behind the axle to lift it up a couple inches so the shocks aren't holding up the rear.
You won't get the bolts out if there is tension on them.
Mine came right out once the nuts were off.
When replacing the bolts, I always put them in front to rear and outside to inside.
Took me about 1.5hrs for the rear.
It was TIGHT in there.
You will become very in touch and personal with the rear diff!
Glasses or goggles may be good to keep dirt from falling in your eyes.
You can only do the rears from below and if you have tyrannosaurus arms...you're screwed.
Better find a tall, skinny friend with long arms.

Now to do a road test and see if all my problems are cured!!

Nice work! I’m pulling the rear tires to do mine, but I’m also replacing the air bags. I’m getting too old and grumpy to squirm around on the ground and teach the neighbors new cuss words…
Let us know how it drives now.

Rides much better.
No more nose dives when braking.
Need to get it out on the highway to see how it feels.

After new air bags( probably no change) and Koni's its a pretty big difference. I felt the biggest change was the porpoising was almost gone for a coach
