Aqua Hot/Hydro Hot MaintenanceBeing
Being liveaboards,we use our boiler system constantly, heat in the winter, and potable HW year round. For those reasons, I watch the system pretty closely. So with no warning, the boiler went south on me two days ago. Just about two weeks before we're due to leave for our Thanksgiving trip to Indianapolis to see the kids....wouldn't you know it. There is NO service for these systems down here close New Orleans. Definitely not going North without heat! The system was just dead in the water. I checked what I could, but quickly came to the realization that whatever was wrong, I wasn't doing to diagnose it or fix it. So I called Llloyd DeGerald Services up in Arkansas for advice, and found that he was at a rally just west of Lafayette La.. They put me in touch with him there and he had just wrapped up the jobs there, and was preparing to head back to Ark. Without hesitation, he offered to drive over here (a 3 hr. drive) and fix my unit. God bless him! He got here, repaired my system, and was ready to return to the site of the rally just before dark. (His wife was waiting there for him in their RV) . The problem turned out to be the "brain box" A rebuilt box was $495.00. While here, he did an annual service. The last time it was done was at the Spring rally at Perry Ga., inMarch of 2018...done by the same man. So parts, service, and travel was $875.00 I was greatful to pay it.
