Question Battery diagram

Noob mistake.
I thought I had pictures of the way the batteries were wired before I disconnected them.
Now I have replaced all 4 and can't remember how they were hooked up and the pictures are no longer on my phone.

I watched a few video's but I am even more confused now.
Right side has 3 - 6 volt deep cycle.
Left has 2 - 12 volt chassis batteries and 1 6 volt in the front.
12 6
12 6
6 6

Right rear has 2 cables from above and a cable running from Positive to left front Negative.

I feel like an idiot.

Can someone explain, and thank you.

3 six volt doesn’t really work in any scenario unless 2 are half the output of the third. Even that is not good. You can wire them 2 in parallel and one in series but they will draw down very unbalanced. Maybe I’m confused. You have 4 six volt ?

Correct. 6 VDC batteries need to be wired in PAIRS/IN SERIES. So, have to be even number of them to make the 12 VDC your RV operates on.

Your 2 12v chassis batteries should be wired in parallel (positive to positive, negative to negative).

The 4 6-volt house batteries need to be wired up in two strings of two batteries in series (positive to negative). Those two 2-battery strings should be wired in parallel. This is the “series-parallel” configuration in the second link below.

This link has some diagrams that may be helpful

Here’s another diagram

The photo Dave posted is the factory drawing. it works if you have your batteries positioned the same way as the drawing. Here is an expanded view.

Our 2000, as it was wired from WRV.
Andy’s drawing is correct, however the b+ feeds for the isolator, generator, HWH, house fuse and boost solenoid may come off either b+ from either the RR or LF GC2 battery. The main thing to get correct is the series/parallel circuit. You are making two 12 volt batteries out of four 6 volt batteries, and then paralleling the two together to make one large 12v battery out of all four GC2’s.

Andy, THANK YOU,

That is what I was looking for!!!!!!!

Not sure where some of you thought I had 3 batteries??? I have 3 on the right and 1 on the left, in front of the 2 starting batteries.

Thank you all for the replies on a Sunday.

It’s also a great time for you to think about adding Buss Bars and simplifying the battery connections. There are other good posts on that process.

The one thing that I think EVERYONE should have is a "real" battery monitoring system, meaning a shunt-based system like the Victron Smart-shunt or BMV712. Both of these systems actually measure the TRUE state of your batteries, amp hours in and amp hours out.

Measuring your batteries by voltage is one of the easiest but candidly the most inaccurate ways to know how your batteries (Both coach and chassis) are doing.

When installing new batteries and hopefully bus bars, this is without a doubt the time to replace old, corroded cables and bring your system up to date
