The shunt comes with the battery monitor. I'm looking a the Victron 712, but I've not yet pulled the trigger on it.

My opinion.
If you are getting other victron stuff (like inverters, charge controllers) or you really like the app and the mobile monitoring, then Victron is top notch. But if you're just getting a stand-alone battery monitor, there are perfectly fine $39 products on amazon.

Just installed the Victron shunt with BlueTooth communication. Cheaper than the 712 remote display model and works great--displays on smart-phone app. However, Bluetooth comm. range is limited so you can't continuously check from your driver's seat, but why would you need to????
