Best Places to Have Your Alpine Repaired: Recommended RV Service Providers

As I read various posts under a variety of topics, I hear about great places to have your Alpine serviced or repaired. Here's an idea, how about having a one stop source to check for recommendations by other Alpine owners to have service done?

If you have had something done and were pleased with the results, give the provider some kudos and give the rest of us a place to start when looking for service.

My recommendation would be that your reply under this thread begin with the following in your first sentence:

1. Type of services available (e.g., just a general category like tire repair; engine work; installation of ___)

2. Name of provider, including contact information such as phone number and the name of the person with whom you worked.

3. City, State and street address.

4. Brief description of what they did and how much they charged.

5. Information about the scope of other work performed there, if known or other nice to know things about them.

My idea is that if you are broke down in say, Oklahoma City, you could check this topic to see if anyone here has used a local RV center successfully. Or, if there is a specialized problem, search for a provider of that service.

I suppose one could also list the "places to avoid" if you had an unpleasant experience, but I would find it more helpful to catalog the good ones.


I'll start the ball rolling with 2 recommendations in the Kansas City area:

1. General Repairs (all types of MOBILE repairs performed including electrical, hydraulic, plumbing; appliances, leaks, etc.;

2. A to Z Mobile RV Repair, 913 893 6949.

3. 300 E 4th St Edgerton, KS 66021 (just south of Kansas City).

4. I had them install a US Gear unified brake system and associated wiring through the coach for the display unit plus installing the base unit for Roadmaster tow bar; replaced fantastic fan and sun shade. Standard charge is $55 trip charge (to come to your location) + $79/hr.

5. As the name implies, they do everything from A to Z, except major engine repairs. Good, reliable people. Their mobile service is a plus when you are disabled and they come with a well-stocked parts van.

2d Provider:

1. Everything but tires, including major engine services as well as work on appliances and the "house".

4. I had them do a complete service on an Onan Generator in my Class B(that was not working at all) and they diagnosed some problems on my disabled Alpine and also did a routine maintenance (oil, filter changes, engine updates, install new house batteries, etc). I think they charge $80/hour (don't have a receipt handy) for most repairs but things like batteries they didn't charge hourly labor, just a modest markup of $5/battery -- which took them days to locate in KC.

5. They are an authorized Cummins and Onan repair center and can do everything from simple repairs to rebuilding a diesel engine. The only thing they don't do is tire repairs. They are also an authorized Monaco warranty repair center and know a thing or two about RVs. Another plus is they are across the street from Worlds of Fun (an amusement park like 6 Flags) and there is a fully equipped RV campground there in case you need to wait for parts or repairs. They are part of the nationwide chain of "Coach Care" centers. I have no experience with the other ones, but these guys know what they are doing.

Cost of repair - $970 which included tech time and travel time.

The Field Service Manager provided excellent customer service. He discovered that the Cummins records had the wrong engine SN and corrected their records. They were able to quickly locate whe correct starter and dispatch the first available tech. The field technician was excellent. He verified that the replacement starter was the correct replacement and was very professional in his repair. He also replaced the damaged wiring. He was very concerned about the quality of his repair and our safety.

I have had 3 different diesel pushers and other than cosmetic items, which are generally exclusive to the specific manufacturer, or tires. I only go to Coach Care which is operated by Cummins at some 40+ shops across the country. IMHO their techs. are far more qualified than those generally found at dealerships. You never have to play the idiotic game of "you did not buy it here and we won't service it here". Many of these facilities also work 2 shifts or even 3 vs. the typical rv dealer who only works 8 to 5---if that. Most of the Coach Care ops. also have overnight parking with electric and separate waing rooms for RVers. Good luck and happy travels, Ken,'04 DSDP....

I-5 Uhlmann RV in Chehalis, WA has great feedback on all things coach. IIRC they send chassis complexities to a nearby Cummins shop. I-5 Uhlmann has been very good to ACA. (do a "FIND")

Guaranty RV has full body & chassis facilities in Junction City, OR, & in Yuma, AZ, has been fabulous to ACA over the years (including the recent, post-WRV-crash DRR8), and many Alpiners have bought coaches there. (do a "FIND")

Ditto on Acacia RV & Redlands Truck. We have had occasion to use both in the last 3 months, and both really went out of their way to take good care of our needs and get us back on the road.

Redlands replaced our alternator with a beefier one after searching all of the LA area to find one for us, and Acacia repaired 3 hydraulic hose leaks for us. Both had us out of there on the same day.

Now, since we live in Vegas, one might ask why we are getting this work done in Southern California...well, two reasons:

1. We spend a lot of time in So Cal with our Alpine friends and Alpine SoCal club.

2. There ain't no good places to get work done in Vegas!! Unless, of course, you have a friend named Dale...

Per another post, I would recommend Holiday Motorhomes in Fife, Washington (near Tacoma). We bought our new coach from them in 2006 before Uhlmann's got the Alpine Coach dealership from them. I have had excellent work from them, and their service manager, Gordon, just seems to know about anything one needs to know about coaches. They sell Holiday Ramblers and Beavers as their primary coaches, but they have so much experience with Alpines over the years that they just know their individual problems.

Type of Service: Repair dual pane windows (lost seal/foggy windows)

They remove window and take glass from frame.
Separate insulated glass.
Remove old seal and wash.
Apply new seal and re-insulate glass.
Put glass back in frame.
Reinstall window back in RV.
Seal frame.

We had our 120" passenger side window done. They did an excellent job. They provide a space w/50 amp electric and water and have a dump station. Their staff is very professional. Also, you can ship your window(s) to them for repair as well. Our cost was $500.

Any advise on Saddleback in Colton? I bought my Alpine from them when they were in Irvine and had some WRV warranty work done satisfactorily.
I now have the "radiator drip" and am looking for a place for the repair. Since I bought the coach and the extended warranty there, maybe I will get competant service?

Rick-If we're still talking about Saddleback, I haven't heard anything like that. When I called to see about an appointment, nothing was said (of course).
I would like to be assured before I put the MoHo out there. Anyone else with info on Saddleback?
