Brands of Water Filters

Our '06 came with two 10 inch in-line water filters in the bay. We do not have the RO system.

I have replaced the water filters several times, starting with the factory 5 micron spiral - wound sediment filter and several different types of carbon block 3 to 10 micron filters, usually opting for the 5 micron version.

The current sediment filter I am using is the Purtrex PX05-9 7/8, which I think I bought from Frank Rouse when he was installing RO systems. It seems to work fine and is cheap enough in bulk quantities when bought on-line.

I haven't found any particular advantage in any brand of carbon block filter.

I searched this forum for the brand and model number of different water filters that people liked and didn't get a hit.

What brands/part numbers of sediment and carbon block filters are favorites, and where would you buy them?

I buy my water filters from rvwaterfilterstore.com ...I get RVSED1 (1 micron) sediment filters, and Everpure carbon drinking water filters. When I have run out of the 1 micron filters, I have bought 5 micron from Lowes/HD/Walmart. If I had two filters inline on the shore water intake, I would use two sediment filters, perhaps a 5 micron and a 1 micron. I use a charcoal/carbon Everpure filter ONLY under the galley sink for drinking and ice maker water as I definitely want chlorinated water in my fresh tank and water lines. We are fulltimers. I replace my single 1 micron sediment filter every three months unless I note problems sooner (rusty or dirty water), and the Everpure drinking water filter once a year.
