Just broke the hose on radiator side bedroom slide on 40 Apex. It should be same set up as any of the other bedroom slides. The slide is in. I will fix it myself. How do you access the hoses with slide in. What suggestions do you have to fix one time hopefully and not have any more problems.

Kraig- I'm assuming the broken hose is an HWH hydraulic hose.

There is a hose rerouting diagram here on the ACA Tech Library. This is what WRV did as a fix. For replacing the hydraulic line, folks are having good luck getting hoses made locally. Some automotive shops can do that (I have a radiator shop near me that does hydraulic hoses for example); ask around starting w/you favorite mechanic. Or you can order the hose from HWH.

The oil or the HWH on the tank says Rycon Premium oil MV which has been changed to Rando Premium MV. Only problem is no dealers in town stock it. Do you know of another brand and name I can use?

You can use any type of hydraulic fluid, BUT it is best to use a clear fluid, with no red dye in it, so that there is no staining if there is a leak that gets on carpet or other such thing. The Rycon is clear and the HWH hydraulic fluid is clear. The last two Camping World stores that I stopped at in NC and TX had HWH hydraulic fluid (the clear type).

I had my hoses rerouted when I had a problem a year and a half ago, and just had to have the new hose replaced due to a leak. So the rerouting is not a cure-all. That was a HWH hose. This time they used a locally made hose. I will see if that lasts longer. (Can't last much shorter.

)

After two or three 1/8" HWH hoses pulled apart at the fitting I had all six wardrobe slide hoses made up in 1/4". These are too stiff to go through the single hole in the floor made by Alpine so I drilled two holes angled toward the center. The floor is about 4" thick so the angle is necessary. Replace the hoses one at a time so you don't mix them up. It is almost impossiblde to bleed the hoses so I used a large syringe to fill each hose first. I bought some plugs and caps that close off the hose and fittings while I worked on them. The slide would wobble when moving for a while but eventually the air worked out. The hoses sit on top of the radiator and are easily accessed by removing the radiator grill. It is held on by a few 1/4" bolts at the bottom. On mine all of the lower brackets have broken and it is held together by nylon ties. Caution! The cover is hinged at the top and after swinging up about 60 degrees, unhooks and crashes to the ground. It must be supported for its full length when it is swung up.
