Broken mount for seat swivel

Hi,

Another newbie here with a question. We have a 2002 mid-entry. The cable system that lets you rotate the front passenger seat is broken. The cable itself looks intact but the bracket it fits into underneath is missing/gone/broken and tossed??? It's not there. The cable part seems to be intact and working as far as we can tell. Currently the entire mechanism is out. The previous owner hooked a wire to the trip mechanism and if we pull on it we can rotate the seat.

Can someone give me an idea on replacing the bracket? Some place I can buy the right one? Is it just an L-bracket I can get at a hardware store and drill a hole where I need it? I've looked around the forum and online and wasn't successful. Any ideas will surely help. Last time I tried pulling the temporary wire that the previous owner hooked up under the seat I sliced my hand open. Don't need that any more.

TIA~

I found that I really have to treat that swivel mechanism very carefully and not put too much strain on the bracket you are talking about. My only suggestion would be to contact Flexsteel, if you have what is usually the industry standard in furniture, and see if they can help. Flexsteel Contact Information | Contact Flexsteel

I contacted Flexsteel on a recliner I broke and the person I spoke with knew exactly what I needed.

I was so impressed with their customer service. I sweet talked her and she offered to send it to me free.

I am sure the parts you need are inexpensive. Don't ask for free, but maybe they will do it.

There is a tag under the seat that gives all the info on the seat including the color f the covering.

Thanks!!

Thanks all for taking time to answer. Sounds like an easy call and fix. Will be sure to take it easy on the mechanism too.

Getting ready for a shake-down trip. Just finished having a Class IV hitch system installed so we can take My (Grandma's) truck as our TOAD. F250 Powerstroke 4X4. Been driving it for years so figured we might as well tow it along.

The plastic bezel that the handle operates from should screw to the side of the seat where the cable was pulled from. All you need is a couple of sheet screws. You can check the other seat to see how the cable is routed to the release lever on the opposite side from where the handle is actuated.

More thanks! We always keep a supply of sheet rock screws around and use them for tons of things. And if a hole in the wood becomes oversized I use the old matchstick and glue trick to fill the hold, let it dry and gently put in a good sized screw. Most often works well.

Thanks again~
