If you disconnect the Vansco/solenoid, you will loose the ability to use the battery boost and charge the house batteries from the engine.

Guessing that means the Vansco has a single solenoid output, triggered either by the boost switch input or the "full voltage" input.

Wonder, instead, if I could disable/disconnect the "full voltage" input, retaining the boost switch function?

My logic (which often needs a sanity check) is to preserve the relay for the boost switch function. If I understand E-Mike's post, the Vansco-chassis-battery-charge cycling of the relay can lead to its failure.

Since I've installed an echo charger, I no longer need the chassis battery charge function.

No, your chas batts need an echo charger. At full charge from the house batts this will keep the chas batts trickled. Simple install and very inexpensive. I got mine in Quartzsite.

Jim- I'd say you are correct that the Echo replaces the solenoid function for charge, but not for battery boost switch actuation.

The point on cycling is that if you get into the black hole condition where no charge is taking place, only the load flip-flop I described, the cycle is on/off @ between 1 & 2 minutes, or about 1000+ cycles per day. At that rate a few days unattended can burn up the solenoid contacts. During regular cycling, 2 or 3 times per day would be a high average, and the customary cycle rate when parked for long periods plugged in and moving the coach only periodically would likely be less than once/day.

Thanks, that's what I understood. I want to retain the Vansco output to the solenoid, which is activated by the boost switch input.

But, I aim to disable the other input (battery voltage), which should be a connection to the house battery bank. I recall seeing a 12/14 gauge wire connected to the bank, wondering what about its purpose.

I'm going from a "no plug in while parked" situation to a plug available parking stall. Alternatively, I figure I can leave the coach plugged in with the charger turned off, manually turning it on every few weeks -- long enough to charge -- but not longer to avoid the black hole.

I recently ordered a couple Trombetta 114-1211-020 solenoids from MurCal, Palmdale, CA. They are priced at $30.20 each. Then to, hopefully, cover all bases ordered a Cole Hersee 24812 for $60.27 -- if it costs more it must be better, right? Guess what, the Trombetta and Cole Hersee they are absolutely identical; same case, terminals, mounting, everything. They did look very similar in the respective specifications sheets; but who would have guessed they were identical? More than likely both are made in China by the same manufacturer, and then Trombetta and Cole Hersee put their own label on them. So if you want to stay with the stock WRV Trombetta 114-1211-020, save yourself some money and buy them from MurCal. They are great folks to deal with and all it takes is a phone call, none of the internet buying nonsense. I ordered on Tuesday afternoon and received the order the next morning.

The original solenoid on my 05 was not working and after reading all the info, purchase a Trombetta solenoid. Well, it is too large and will not fit in the box on rig so I purchase a Cole Hersee and , wonders of wonders it is now charging the chassis batteries just fine. Was wondering how anyone else installed the Trombetta.
