Cranking Generator

we you crank the generator what batteries are used the crank it? House or the coach cranking batteries?

….depends....but believe OEM bat config. for Alpines was genset cranks off chassis bats.

Old Scout is the Guru. Mine is to the chassis batteries through the generator breaker. The house batteries can assist if the boost switch is used.

was just wondering cause was boondocking coach went all day with out being crank running off house batteries and when i started the gen it seem to crank slow like the batteries were real low

...when boon-docking, you need to "manage" both battery bank charge levels....a modest drop in volts/cranking amps will expose loose or corroded battery cable connects on the bats or at the rear of the genset....
