Electric Carefree Windshield Curtain

This curtain may have only been in the Apexes - but we still have ours as WRV went out of business before we could get ours replaced with the MCDs. We have had problems with it from the beginning and it had gotten so that the curbside would start going up as the street side was going down. When I had all sorts of time while we were in Cody, WY last month - the cord that was closest to the curbside of the windshield started getting even worse. (we have a mid-door so it is all 1 peice). So I decided to "re-string" that one place - used heavy quilting thread and dental floss - and walla - the shade started working perfectly! Only problem was - several days later the cord broke where I had attached it. I tediously restrung it! Several days later it broke again.

I said "to heck with it" - and now we are operating it with no cord in that channel. It has been 2 weeks and it has operated perfectly. Don't know how long it will continue to work but I am very pleased with such a simple fix. And we saved several thousand dollars - at least for the time being!

Hi Swans,

If you try to restring it again, I would go to a blind shop and buy some of the woven cord that they use. Very strong stuff.

It is all a matter of timing. We got our MCD shades put in at the factory in Texas under WRV warranty. The next day, they put Fivian's in and said it was the last coach because WRV was not paying.

Basil - My point was - it operates great without the cord. I hope to not have to do anything else to it!
