Entry Door Swingarm and Latch System 2005 WRV Alpine Coach

The wind strongly blew open our entry door bending the Swingarm and Latch System.
1) The door will not close completely. The swingarm is bent.
2) We removed the plate from the inside jam of the door but cannot remove the top plate that resides on the left hand side of the swingarm that sits on top of door which connects to the door latching system.
3) Any suggestions in removing the top plate from the door?
4) If we can't straighten the bent portion, any suggestions where to purchase and have a mobile unit install a new swingarm and latching system?

We are living full time in the RV in Chimacum, Washington.

The door and hardware were manufactured by PTL Engineering.
They are still in business and can supply some repair parts and parts breakdown. I do believe the original design parts are obsolete, but I’ve heard they do have a redesigned swingarm…
I’ve never had to entirely remove the top plate from the door, but was able to straighten the bent hold open cam mechanism in place. Yours is likely bent and jammed, which will jam the latch. Our hold open mechanism has since failed again however, not a great design. I’d contact PTL and see what your options are. You can probably straighten out the bent swingarm and latch cam, and live without a functional hold open mechanism without having to remove the top plate. I believe you need to disassemble most of the door to entirely remove the top plate, not fun.
Can’t help with a recommendation for anyone local to do the repairs, sorry.
Good Luck.

Good morning I have an 2001Alpine,

I have removed my door lock open mechanism for repair by removing the screws on top of th door that secure the mechanism. After removing the screws you should be able to pull the mechanism up gaining access to the release cable.Remove the cable and secure it so you don't lose it down inside the door. That will allow you to remove the mechanism for repair.
