front overhead cabinets

Has anybody removed the overhead cabinets where the TV is mounted? I want to modify the TV cabinet and need to know if there are any tricks or problems. Can the center section be lowered or does the whole thing have to come down.

Don't know without seeing what you have but can tell you that my tv cabinet had an access panel on the bottom that had to come off (4 screws) in order to get the tv brackets unscrewed and get the old monster removed. My rig has welded aluminum frame with a tray bolted to it that the tv sat on. I did not need to but if I had wanted to I could have taken off the wood facia, made some extensions to lower the shelf, then made a new facia. Basically, get some stuff removed so you can see how the area is constructed, then go from there. As long as you don't hack out anything structural without making appropriate compensation you'll be fine.

Give Bobby and Scott a call at Amazing Creations or Kustom Coach Works in Junction City, OR. They have modified a ton of Alpine front cabinets.

What model and year coach do you have ? My Apex had the center tv mount with aluminum frame bolted to cabinets on either side. Removed the center mount and constructed a wood cabinet at a 15 degree angle to mount tv to, additionally created a storage cabinet behind tv to mount electronics with access door on bottom.
