It's the strut. I got some info off it. it is the STABILUS INTER STOP and the following numbers: 8166SH 0350N 257/04 A 3. Hope you can make use of this info.

Thanks Glenn,

I will check it out. I can think of a few applications where those struts might come in handy. I scratch-build and prototype mechanical/electrical components and machines, and have a list of items (and places to procure them) I may use in the future.
