Gas Struts

I have a 1998 36SDS. I need to replace 4 struts in the basement compartments but I'm having a difficult time locating them. Any advise as to where to get them and perhaps a model number.

Can you get the part number off the old ones? ppl.com in their parts department has instructions on how to measure and identify what you have.
Let us know what you find.

...interesting website Gene---noticed at the bottom of the page there were a variety of "tips/disclaimers" about measuring length and determining load/resistance before ordering.....So basically, one size of strut does not fit all applications on a particular Alpine. Probably just as good to go to a generic strut supplier and order struts based on length, load and connector specifications from your existing strut......?????

About a year ago I replaced the struts on the storage doors on the passenger side. The source: asraymond.com. I got the GSNI300070. However, I'd recommend measuring yourself to ensure that you get exactly what you want. They provide directions on their website. Happy Hunting!

Here's another link/site (ebay store) with good info to insure you get the proper strut.
strut your stuff here | eBay Stores

I bought the shorter struts for the doors below the slide. NP2630-130. Not yet installed.

Some time ago I bought struts for the larger doors. Easy to install and work perfectly.

I'll send that part number when it's daylight here on the left coast.

Our '06 has all Columbia struts, Lakewood, WA. Find the numbers on the strut and go to their web site to get the direct replacement. Lots of good info on site including prices which appear same or better than Amazon, eBay, and others. I will be ordering several when we get back from Quartzsite.

The info in my earlier post is incorrect.
Now that it is daylight here I can see and read better- but my memory hasn't improved.

The gas struts on my 1998 Alpine when I bought it- don't know if they are original.

Small bays= SPD-GS-5250-60. Still working fine.

Large bays= SPD-GS-6702. Were failing and would not hold up the door when it was cold. Replaced with Nitro-Prop Strut and Spring NP 2630-130.
