The first time this happened for the first time was in late 2002 on our 2001 Alpine 38ft. We were away from the house when the neighbors called and let us know that the Generator was running. It has happened several times we still have not been able to determine why this happens. We do not have an Auto Gen Start and the only thing I can think of is Gremlins. I contacted both WRV and Onan and the only thing Onan came up with and tried to sell me is it was a small animal that stepped on Start switch. I told them that was almost impossible because you must hold down the start button until the generator goes through it’s start sequence before it starts to turn over and start. WRV did not know why it happened and had no explanation.

You must have an auto start system, otherwise you have an animal capable of starting your generator. If you do have auto start, make the voltage setting for when it auto starts, lower.

There is moisture in a plug, probably by the generator.

I had same thing happen with our RV. Ran for 12 hours. There was a recent rain and some moisture under hood. I removed plug on passenger side of generator added some dielectric grease.
Talked to a Monaco owner a few days later that also recently had it happen and it ran till out of fuel at storage lot.
None of us have AGS so that was not a cause.

Can anyone elaborate on these plugs?
If you have AGS, disable it while in storage. Setting the low voltage signal lower will just make it start a few hours later and may jeopardize the longevity of your batteries.
Fortunately, on an Alpine, the fuel pick up for the generator is about 1/4 of the way above the bottom of the tank. This prevents the generator from running the tank dry.

I've had this happen twice now and both time it had been raining and the AGS was disabled.
Follow the smaller gage wire bundle to a plug. Mine was in a location where it could get water on it from weather. (There is a picture in another thread.)
Seem like a long shot, but I took it apart cleaned it and put some dielectric tune-up Grease in it but it back together and it hasn't happened again. Fixed? Hope so.
