Our '05 40 ft Alpine Coach provided me with another challenge yesterday. Went to fuel for the first time in 3 months and the gen slide would not budge. Crawled under it and found all the slide rollers frozen in place. It took an hour of spraying them down with WD-40 and working them loose with vise-grips before I could get the slide extended. WRV doesn't provide any written material for a maintenance program on the slide(If they do I failed to receive a copy of which isn't unusual) so I'm wondering if anyone out there has experienced the same problem and if so, how did you fix it. The owners manual does mention under the heading of "preventative maintenance" that if your slide starts to squeak it is permissible to use a light coat of oil on the rollers.. Is there a proper lubrication program for the rollers???? I don't think WD-40 is a permanent fix for this problem and a light coat of oil is a joke for frozen rollers. Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

I haven't looked under our 2000 to see if there are rollers. I think ours has teflon pads.

I would use chain lube. It would flow into the roller bearing and then set up so as not to run off or wash off.

I can't wait for the day that we don't fuel for 1 month!

Sorry to here about the sticking slide. I would guess sitting in the salt air added to the problem. I agree chain lube would be good for this application. Now that I know there is an issue I am going to open my Gen Slide and clean and lube the rollers.

If its still under warranty I would suggest calling our service center and scheduling and appointment or see what they would suggest
But if you decide to do it yourself remember to get all 10 (5 on each side) and the screw drive

Thanks for your input with this matter. I do plan on having the rollers replaced under warranty when we get back to the factory. Have a few other items that need attention also. I tried to -e-mail you thru this web site but it didn't go so that why I'm responding thru this "reply" mode. Do you have a regular -e-mail address??

Might also try CorrosionX (do a google search or go to www.corrosionx.com). They have a thin film bonding technology to their lubricants. I've used them for some time now & have never had rust return on a refurbished item. I use it on leveling jack extensions, and wipe them down to a near dry condition, fishing gear...
Chain lubes usually have a wax component; this stuff is all lube. If the rollers were rusted internally, I'd swap them out & use CorrosionX on the newbies when they go in.
