Thanks rbguinn for the detailed write-up. I just finished my job. In addition to the heater core, I replaced the heater control valve. Figured after 14 years it would be good insurance. My heater core was not leaking, but not flowing very well. Plugged up somehow. It would have been nice had the two lower bolts been a half inch higher.
