Help!! Can’t get power switched from inverting to shore

Just arrived back home from two weeks in the RV. Plugged in to the power source, switched to 20amp for shore max and now can’t get any power. What am I doing wrong?

Assume you mean that you don't have 120 VAC in the coach.

First thing is to check the outlet for 120 VAC.

Then the female end of your 30 to 50 amp adapter.

Then, IF YOU ARE SAFE WORKING AROUND 120 VAC, open the ATS and check for power IN and OUT.

I am a RV beginner. And know nothing about this stuff - I have the 120 adapter on - what is the ATS - and how do I check it?

Ok - I figured ATS - auto transfer switch. Where would I find that on a 2005 Alpine?

Just a silly question but you did not hit the salesman switch?

…."salesman switch" is strictly a 12v issue, "assume" we are talking 120v here???? Hope OP has voltmeter--then starting checking each connection until they find the "missing link." Might be something simple like a dog-bone adaptor but hard to isolate without a systematic search--starting with the 20amp breaker in the house--been there, done that!

For those who are not real tuned to circuit testing, this provides a nice, easy test of voltage at the desired outlets....and cheap

So, we started the generator and it started charging - once it was “float charging”, we turned the generator off and plugged in to 120 from house and it worked fine. Just went out and checked it and it still says “float charging” but the charge light is off (no lights are on or blinking). Tried the lights and they work. Why wouldn’t the chg light be on?

...bad assumption on my part -- thought we were just talking 120v, not so sure now....

Please tell us EXACTLY what is not working.

Do you have a voltmeter? If so, have you checked for power at the female end of the 30 to 50 amp adapter? Here is what you will check:
Either outer straight to center straight= 120 VAC

Either outer straight to center round= 120 VAC

No lights at all? No AC in? No power share light? Did you try pressing the "Charge" button to cycle the charger off and on? It still sounds like you do not have 120v to the coach when plugged in.

BoDawg226, in your first post you say you “switched to 20 amp for shore max”. Do you mean you plugged your 50 amp power cord into a 30 amp adaptor and then into a 20 amp adaptor to connect to the wall, or do you mean you set your inverter/charger for 20 amp incoming power? Btw - what inverter/charger do you have?

We did plug the 50 amp adapteor to the 30 amp adaptor to the 20 amp adaptor. And then to the wall. Couldn’t get the power to turn on; however, we have switched from an outlet in our barn to an outlet directly from the house, and everything is now working (or appears to be). So, I’m thinking the issue is with our power in the barn - not with the RV - seems like there isn’t enough power from that source even though it had worked fine before we left on our most recent trip. We are beginning to think we don’t know enough about this nice RV to own one!
