How far can you go on a fillup?
With the wonderful prices on California fuel, I would like to get out of the state with as few fuel ups as possible. I seam to run about 9-10 mpg sometimes 11.
So assuming a full tank on a 40ft alpine how far do other people go?
I have been filling up at 350-450 miles.
Thanks Ed

…..depends on your model year of Alpine -- tank sizes vary by model year and MPG by specific driving conditions.....the real question is how far should you drive? I don't like getting below 1/4 tank [eg, genset wont run below 1/4 tank]-- and this assumes your fuel gauge works properly--and that is another issue for Alpines.….safe travels!!!!

i do not let my coach get below 1/2 tank due too not fitting in all service stations but the question is too broad due to driving style, loads, yr make model, mods, roads and running conditions of coach ect.
i get 5.5 mpg towing my trailer and have a heavy foot loaded to the max.

Ed just a guess - but the math here is pretty simple - Guessing you have 100 gallons of fuel - multiply that times the MPG - 9-11 - and google the fastest route to get out of Cali and - might just leave 10 - 20 gallons in the tank - so only you CAN DO THE MATH. (Diesel in Maryland is $2.65 today just down the street - likely $5.00 + in Cali so....)
It's easy for me - I just stop in Vegas or Reno, then head back east .

How far can you go on a fillup?
Ed, It also depends upon your driving habits, average speed, terrain, use of cruise control, size of your engine, what if anything you are pulling, etc. Driving from Seattle to Denver pulling a fully loaded stacker will yield drastically different results than driving from Miami to Charleston with nothing in Tow.
We just went from Seattle down I-5 to the Bay Area, then down to Riverside county and on to Las Vegas pulling a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. We fueled up at Seven Feathers, Canyonville, OR, Dunnigan, Ca and then Las Vegas. I normally refuel at about 1/2 tank or 350-400 miles (I have a 100 gallon tank) but stretch it when we are in CA due to the prices, however I will pay the higher prices before I will go under a 1/4 tank. We took on 72 gallons at Las Vegas (I was concerned). When planning a trip (I use RVtrip wizard) I use 7.5 as an average mpg with a 350-400 range to select a fuel stop.

It depends upon the model year. What year Alpine do you have?

There is an tag on my tank marked 110 gallons but the most fuel I ever put in it was 96 gallons one time. The gauge was on empty and the fuel light came on. Even knowing some number of gallons your tank is supposed to hold there is no easy way to test if your fuel pickup tube will get to it all. There are many good reasons to not run low on fuel.
