How much oil needed to change out hydraulic fluid

I have a 2005 36 foot Alpine coach and would like to service my engine driven hydraulic system. I have searched this sight and found a lot of discussion on the subject about the type of hydraulic oil but not how much is required. I need to order the fluid and wanted to order enough. Can anyone who has done it or had it done know how much oil it takes? Also does anyone know if the 2005 coaches did use filters for this system and are they located within the large tank? If so dose anyone have the filter number? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Charlie L.,

Check the 2005 Alpine Coach Owners Manual at the Alpine Coach Association site:

http://www.alpinecoachassociation.co...2005manual.pdf

On the Adobe Reader page number 98 (manual page number 87), it states the required oil type and filter number, but does not give the capacity. I'm not sure of the fluid capacity, but as I recall it is about 4-5 gallons. Since WRV recommends Valvoline Premium Blue engine oil (15W-40), which you can buy direct from any Cummins dealer, you can order extra then use the remainder for topping off the Cummins engine oil, as needed.

See this link:

I believe 10 gallons ( as Dale said not sure) is the correct amount. I could only find 5 of Rando 46 HDZ so I did a partial change. I plan on doing a complete change this winter. My 05 uses (3) Nelson 87610A filters. Yes they are in the large black tank.

The 08/09 coaches have a different filter & hydraulic fluid radiator, but shouldn't be way far off. I was quoted 6.5 gallons for ours by the factory and told that was in the ballpark by Cummins Rocky Mountain in Reno when they changed mine for a hose recall.

I have an 05 36' Alpine and have changed out the fluid with Rycon 46. It took exactly 5 gallons.
