How to replace grey tank flush bulkhead?

We took our new coach out for its first camping trip this past weekend. It was a short trip, but we wanted to get to know everything. Aside from the refrigerator not working, and a pretty large leak in the roof, one of the things I noticed was that the grey tank flush bulkhead was leaking. Not terrible, but one of those things that will surely get worse. I decided to fix it now before becoming a bigger problem on a longer trip. It looks like a previous owner overloaded the male metal fitting with teflon tape and cracked the female bulkhead. Maybe it was an attempt to fix a small leak. In any case, I tried a couple things to repair it but made it worse.

Here is a picture.

My question is, how are these bulkheads replaced? Do they need to be accessed from the inside? I'm not familiar with this type of thing. I'm hoping other Alpine owners have the same tank and have tackled this in the past.

For reference, here is the healthy fitting on the black tank.

Thanks!

If the fitting is cracked across the threads, there isn't much that can be done to fix it because the expansion pressure from the tapered pipe fitting will just crack it open again.

Since there is a bunch of access, it may be possible drill that fitting out and spin weld a new larger fitting in its place. Check youtube for videos on spin welded bulkhead fittings.

Given the necessary tools, it may be best to find a shop that can do the spin welding for you.

That's pretty cool. I haven't seen that before. Not sure who makes a flush rinse nozzle that would fit in something like that.

I also see things like the tornado flush kit, which looks to be a slightly larger hold size. It looks like these are simply held with screws and silicone.

The existing hold measures about 1". All the after market kits I see are larger, which I suppose is good.
