We are averaging around 9 with a 350ISC towing CRV and keeping it around 60ish mph.

I have 37' with a Cat 3126b and at 65mph and no toad I get right at 10mpg. Econo mode 90% of the time. Towing I get 8.5 to 9. Speed is a huge MPG killer. I did a speed run back and forth to Lake Havasu at 75+ with no toad and my MPG dropped to 7.5! Yikes...

65mph towing about 10mpg for me. Higher speed lower mileage for me. Also, hugely dependent upon wind speed and direction.

2017 Airstream Interstate 24’ extended, highway 20 mpg, town 15-16 mpg, average in the 17-18 ish. The van is a Mercedes Benz 3500 Diesel Sprinter. I ditched the class A, it was a 38’ Cummins, and got 6-9 mpg pulling a tow...

We seem to be straying a LONG WAYS from the OP's question of MPG for a 38' DP with 400 HP Cummins ISL.

Can a much smaller vehicle with a much smaller engine get better MPG. YUP-- no big surprise.

Have a Cummings 450 in a 45’ tag and toad, also get 8.2. Think you are ok.

As was stated my 38’Class A got a whopping 6-9 mpg. Just had to rub- in the MERCEDES BENZ Airstream Interstate’s combined 17-18 mpg. Sorry to have offended you...

Here we go again! Tell me this, if you don’t get the mileage you were looking for, will you not travel anywhere? The bottom line is, when you get low on fuel, you pull over and get more.

Not offended at all. Just totally irreverent.

BTW have had RV's from VW P27 campers that got in the mid 20's to 38'/400 HP diesel pushers that get around 9. And understood the tradeoffs before stepping in.

Most us KNOW a how physics works and understand the tradeoffs.

MPG:sad:

I have a 2006 Monaco Knight. Over a 2500 mile trip, I averaged 7.35. I was unhappy. With previous motorhomes, I averaged high 8s.

That calculation was by yellow #2 and not blue fire.

Anything over 8 is a dream if you are toeing and in the mountains on the west coast.

I averaged 7.75 Ca. to Co. but I drive 70 MPH and tow a CRV. Get real close to 8 if I stay out of the mountains.

Not sure if this is directed at me but my reasoning was to see if I was in the ballpark to like /kind vehicles gives me an idea if the vehicle is running correctly. When my tank goes empty I fill it up, I dont price shop I just stop when the needle tells me to
