HWH level jack leaking
My right front jack is leaking. The model # is AP29904. I was told that this jack has a welded foot at the bottom which makes the replacement problematic.
According to HWH the leaking cylinder is not rebuildable and they do not have a date of when they will have the replacements in stock.
Does anyone have any info on having these rebuilt and can I disconnect it and drive the bus and plug up the hydraulic line?

Are you sure its the jack or the hose connection? Either way, it doesnt look like a very bad leak for HWH equipment [smile]. Dont think I'd worry about it until it gets worse. Does the jack settle while parked?

The jack pad is only held on by the return springs. The jack cylinder is held up with the return springs. No pressure on system when they are retracted. Sometimes the rear drivers will extend 1/2 to 3/4” when driving due to heat from engine and radiator heating and expanding fluid in jack but doesn’t extend enough to contact ground while driving. If fluid is leaking from bottom of cylinder
Possible cause is dirt in wiper seal where ram goes into cylinder. Try gently wiping recess where seal is and operate jack several times, may correct leak

Well now what a coincidence. I have a 2000 36FDS and my right front jack retracts also, within oh 5-10 min of extending the jacks for leveling. Mine 1st started last September at the Black Oak Rally in Central Ca. I thought mine was leaking too, jack covered in grime. Tried operating it but found no new wetness at all. I traced leakage to a 2 hose port(?) in the HWH hydraulic compartment, which over years(?) this drip has sprayed over various steel walls, wiring and finally my jack.
I've been in contact with Paul Maddox work works for HWH and or has some parts. He told me the "leak is probably coming from the solenoid for that jack", which is located in the compartment behind a little door near my main entrance door. Im trying to get a solenoid from him.. If you have any further questions then PM me.

Actually, the pics I used were to show the type of jack I had. The right front is the issue. I had a nice puddle after the leak started. And yes the jack does settle after it's parked. Crazy, that HWH can not get these in stock and that no one can repair/rebuild these.

Not rebuildable! Where have we heard that before. Is it possible to get one from a wrecking yard? There must be 10's of thousands of them on the road (or not).

Welded jacks are absolute rebuildable but the level of effort and skill set needed to open the jack up to replace the seals will be higher and naturally cost more. Call around to your local hydraulic shops to see who has in the house capability and the general cost.

Shout out to Mitimet, Paul Maddox is the expert here, but your pics suggest to me that your leak is the main room slide cylinder[s]. Your pics are the end caps on those slide rams. This is a fairly common problem with older Alpines. Not too bad a fix if its just the hose connection but if not, fixing these cylinders is a pretty challenging effort--just getting access is the ram is tough.

leaking jack
I just had a jack repaired. Had been putting up with a long time and finally took it in. Turned out it was the O ring where the hydraulic line attaches to the cylinder! HWH doesn't even show the part on their charts. Anyway the tech used a refrigeration o ring and did not charge for the part. still cost north of $500 for the service, but still cheaper than I thought.
Good Luck
