I'm new to this forum, thanks for all the great info and links. I've just noticed two hyd fluid leaks on the fittings in my battery compartment. It seems like a slow drip at the fittings. Has anyone had this issue before? Can the fitting just be tightened or does an O-ring need to be replaced? I don't want to over-tighten and make the problem worse, but I don't want to have a mechanic overcharge me for something I can do myself...

I know somebody will jump in here and tell you. Allow me to be the first. It would help you to get a straight answer if you posted the year and model of your coach so that others with the same coach will be better informed about what you are asking.

My 2007 Alpine has a hydraulic cylinder in the battery compartment which I believe equalizes the pressure to the two actuator cylinders so that the slide moves evenly. I too had seepage but only had to tighten the fittings. Of greater concern is that I have had four failures of the 1/8" hose that connects the equalizer to the actuators and the other side of the actuators. In three failures the hose came out of the fitting the last was a bubble on the hose. I replaced all six hoses with locally made 1/4" hoses. I have pictures but don't know how to get them on the reply.

Also in the batt compartment on our coach is the head of the leveling jack. On our 06 the jack hose fitting came loose and other than the contortionalism req'd (it was LR jack not the one by batts) just tightening did the trick.

We ran into the same problem in our 03 40fdts. After researching the forum, we determined that HWH had a bad supply of 1/8" hoses in '03 and'04. We decided to check all of the fittings and found that about every 1/8' hose was leaking at one end or the other, and the leaking was coming out from between the ferrule and the hose. We decided to change every 1/8" hose with locally made Parker hoses and fittings. No problems since.

I have also replaced some 1/8 in. fittings and one is again leaking. The poor sweg or crimp job shows up as a blister on the outside of the hose, usually near the fitting.
I will have to look for a hyd. repair in the Palm Springs or Mesa area. Any recomendations would be apreciated.
