Hydronic heating

Hydro Hot™ Hydronic Heating System w/15,000 BTU A/C Upgrade & Engine Pre-Heat Feature (no heat pumps). What is this option exactly? Is it worth having?

Not sure how an ac gets added to a water heater.

Think conjunctions are missing: "hydronic heat system, AND 15k vs 12.5k BTU roof A/Cs [not heat pumps], AND hydronic heat has engine pre-heat." Poorly worded--this is not a single thing or option but separate issues. For Alpines, it means: propane furnace vs diesel boiler, 15k BTU roof AC's vs 12.5k [ACs only vs heat pumps], AND engine pre-heat function in the hydronic system vs intake heater grids or block heater.

For Example, our 2009 40' Limited FDQS has AquaHot hydronic heating, with engine preheat mode, PLUS we also have 2 - 15k BTU heat pump systems on the roof. So, duplicate heating systems.

With regards to worth having, I'd say the jury is still out on AquaHot vs. Propane furnace. Although, you'd lose the engine block heating with a furnace. The AquaHot is a bit quieter than a furnace, but requires more maintenance due to the diesel burner. 15k heat pump is a huge advantage, especially with a dark paint coach in the sun.

The HydroHot system is MUCH quieter than the propane heater.

We have hydronic heating and hot water in our trailer. It’s nice. Very quiet, endless hot water etc. Works on propane, electric or both at the same time. I’m told it can be more expensive for repairs. Hopefully that won’t happen. Apparently many techs are not familiar with the systems either although that would depend on the manufacture I suppose.

Cheers.
