Ice maker issue

I have the Amana reefer. I have water to the door but nothing to the ice maker. Should I think about replacing the ice maker or ( I hate to ask this. Could the problem be in the solenoid behind the unit? )
I think I would rather replace the ice maker than to have to pull the reefer out. I had to do that in the past when the solenoid froze and cracked.

There are only a few mfgrs. of icemakers, thus, many icemakers are interchangeable.

Is this a residential retrofit?

If so don't you have access to the rear through the old vent opening?

I had to recently replace my ice maker water supply line due to a pin-hole leak someplace behind the fridge. it was easy to disconnect it from the solenoid and fish the new line by pulling on the old line to a location where I could easily splice the two together.

I have a Samsung RF197.

Chris--I hate to do problem diagnostics with new parts[$$$$]--but sometimes???? I fear the solenoid is the problem here. Not sure if you can remove the old ice maker and still test/activate the ice maker solenoid--suspect they interface. I replaced the ice maker in my 03 Amana several years ago--maybe $100 for the part. If the icemaker is original equipement, it might be time to replace anyway. The ice forming tray gets pretty yuckie over time. Just be ready to do the dirty deed to pull the frig and replace the solenoid too.

Have you changed the water filter? If it gets pluged you will not get water to ice maker.
